When the students arrived for today's class, they would find their teachers eating cheesecake. Straight off the cake, with forks. "It's okay," Vanessa assured them. "We got another one for you...although we might have forgotten plates. Figure that out yourselves. Anyway, this is...what did we call this class?" she asked Wade. "Did we go with our working title of, 'I Dunno, Movie Day?'"

"Let me pull up the post," Wade said with a deeply put upon sigh, digging out his phone for it. He stabbed his fork right into the cheesecake to stake his claim. "Spring... 2019... no, not ours. Nope. Wow, two dance classes? Weird synergy. Here we are! Life Lessons through Screen Time. That's pretty thinky for us, though."

"The moose must have changed it," Vanessa said with a shrug. "Welcome to 'Life Lessons through Screen Time!' We're your teachers. I'm Vanessa. He's Professor Deadpool."

"Excuse me..." Wade broke in. "Detective Deadpool. I'm a Pokèmon now."

"Sure, babe," Vanessa said. "Only it's not Pokemon week. We'll get to that," she assured the students. "But first, you have to introduce yourselves! It's traditional. We probably won't remember your names, but whatever."

"I'm a Pokèmon," Wade whispered at the class before continuing on like it never happened. "Unless you make it interesting. Make it pop. Be like one of the classic protagonists from the shows that shaped our lives. Raised us. Made us think about killing a studio head. Whatever it might be."

"That's right! Tell us which stock character you are," Vanessa encouraged the class. "And, you know, your name or whatever."

It's called multitasking.

And Sidon, who, despite having been here for over a year, had collected very little by the way of pop culture knowledge and who also had no desire to eat any cheesecake because it definitely looked like something that his digestive system would not particularly enjoy, was perhaps mildly bewildered. His placement in this class felt even more out of place than his first class of the day, though he supposed Muzu must have just focused on the life lessons part in a desperate hope that it might actually be useful.

But introductions! Now, that he understood, and he also knew it was Friday, so this was his last chance to get those class introductions in, and he was more than prepare, brightening significantly as his turn came around, and you'd think he'd get sick of this, but it never, ever got old.

"Hello!" he said eagerly. "I am Sidon!" And just when you thought his grin couldn't get any bigger or sharper, he pumped his fist in the air and made it absolutely sparkle. Worked every time! Like a charm! "The Zora Prince! It's absolutely wonderful to meet you all!"

Well. You said you wanted them to make it pop, right?

"From The Shape of Water!" Wade said. "Great movie. Never actually watched it, but great movie. Happy for you."

It had won awards, after all.

But Sidon looked momentarily confused, so quickly off his bright introduction, with an uncertain little, "Thank you? I don't believe I'm actually...familiar with this movie?"

And, as an adolescent Zora in the spring stages of his first romance, it should probably stay that way, as it would likely result in giving the poor boy ~~terrible~~ ~~or amazing?~~ ~~no, definitely terrible~~...ideas.

But as a Zora who found not nearly enough amphibious representation in films these days...he was curious.

"Well, I dint have a Switch, so it's gotta be that, right?"

Honestly, how many sexy fishmen were out there?

"But, like you said, it won awards."

Hey, Norman was perfectly game for some cheesecake, just so long as he managed to get a piece of it into his hand - he was not too proud to eat cheesecake out of his hand, no - before the cake was completely decimated, anyway.

"Uh, hey," he said, turning a smile toward the rest of the class. "I'm Norman. And I guess I'm that one guy in every horror movie who manages to make it all the way to the end, but nobody can really figure out how."

It seemed accurate to him, anyway.

"Is it because you're actually the killer?" Or a virgin. One of those two.

It was that second one!

"I'm really not the killer," Norman replied, blinking. "That just gets awkward fast."

"Less awkward when they're all dead." OH WAIT.

"... No, not really."

They just tended to never let you live it down that way.

"I'm Nell Ingram and I don't know what a stock character is. I most never have even seen a movie except wandering by the common room once in a while this fall."

Funny how the church elders and such weren't fond of movies, wasn't it?

"Really?" Vanessa asked dubiously. "Your other teachers never gave up for the week? What goody-two-shoes did you have last semester?" She was assuming Nell was from one of those tragic worlds that didn't have TV.

"We might have watched an educational film," Nell said uncertainly, "but I don't think anyone ever gave up?"

Nell's world had tv, the cultish church where she grew up didn't.

Breq glanced at the cheesecake, then ignored it.

"I'm Breq. I'm the hero who gets to shoot the villain with a big gun."

It was hard to say what she actually felt about this class so far Her face betrayed nothing.

"We all want to be the hero who gets to shoot the villain with the big gun," Vanessa said, sympathetic, "but few of us actually are."

"Theron," he said with a shrug. "I only really watch holos in class."

"Well, la-dee-dah, fancy pants," Wade said, waving his hands at the 'holo' thing. "We're both owned by the same company now, buddy. Stop puttin' on airs."

Though Theron's existence in the new SWEU was probably iffy.

Well, it was good to see Deadpool making even less sense than usual.

"Okaaaaaay..."

Who weren't sharing their cake with you.

I dreamed I quit my job without a backup plan and rent was due the next week. Dreams are awful.
