"Dark Nation," Rufus said, resigned, "don't chase the books."
His dog, and the books—all of them about playful animals; at least, that was what the covers led him to believe—turned to look at him.
He had the strong impression that they were all sulking at him.
Rufus decided he didn't care that much about the fate of the books. If they were willing to be chased and likely chewed on by his dog… fine, then.
"Fine," he said, and the books perked right up. "Just keep it down. This is a library, after all."
And Dark Nation went tearing after the books again.
Well, he'd tried.
