Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The tables and chairs had been scattered around the lawn - some near the food, some not, some in the shade, some not - and the food was ready for anyone who wanted to come by and greet the new people.

Enjoy your last picnic where shirtlessness will be enjoyable until next summer, folks!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"I am the big red shark!" Sidon agreed happily enough, grinning down (down, down) at the girl, and he let out a little laugh. "Well, big red shark-like person. I am not actually a shark; I am called a Zora."

He then considered the other part of what the girl said. "And your new sibling must be Norman, then, am I correct?"

It helped considerably that almost all of his other best friends were girls.

'I'm Nell. It's nice to meet you, Azora." He was really even more frightening when he smiled like that, but she was being brave right now.

"Yes, Norman," she said. "He's a very nice person. He told me a little bit about this place. It all seems unbelievable, but..." she shrugged, spreading her hands. "Either I've completely lost my mind, which I haven't ruled out yet, or this place is what it seems to be."

"Oh, begging your pardon, Nell," said Sidon, realizing his small gaffe, hand to his chest in apology, "but I may have been a bit unclear. Zora is not my name, but rather my race. I am a Zora, just as I assume you are...human, is that correct? My name is Sidon."

He truly couldn't help the grin, forgive him, especially as saying his name caused his to pump a fist excitedly in the air and flash his biggest one yet. "The Zora Prince. Apologies if I may have caused any confusion on that point. I imagine things are quite confusing enough for you right now as it is, but please trust me when I say it is not insanity, the place really is it seems to be, no matter how strange and confusing that may be."

Nell blushed a little, "I am sorry, Sidon. Er, Prince Sidon? I'm afraid I don't know the right way to address a prince." From probably yet another planet. This was getting so difficult to make sense of that Nell decided maybe it was best to stop trying and just go with the flow.

"I apologize for my mistake and yes, I am," maybe not entirely, "human. And this place is very strange and confusing, but I guess that's just going to be my life till I can find a way to get back to my husband."

"Think nothing of it!" Sidon assured her. "And, please, just Sidon will suffice. I've never been too fond of formalities regarding my title, especially when I'm so far away from home. As it seems you are, too, and you say....find your way back? Is it safe to assume that you are not entirely here...intentionally?"

"I was just out walking in my woods - Soulwood - and there was this shimmer and then I was here," Nell said. "So, no, not at all intentionally. I'm guessing that you are? And you've been here a while?"

"About a year," said Sidon, with a nod, "so not long at all." Certainly not by Zora standards. "And, yes, I am here quite intentionally; I was sent here with the express intention to experience a different culture and world so that I might better serve my people in our time of greatest need. But it's not entirely unheard of for someone to be in your own situation, Nell, unintentionally and quite by surprise. I dare say, your husband and your family must be quite concerned for you! We shall have to make sure we find a way for you to get in touch with them as soon as possible!"

Nell ducked her head. "My husband must be right upset by now. Probably even checked with my parents to see if I went to see them. I hope I can get back soon." Maybe.

She swallowed hard. "Thank you for your kindness. I'm not used to menfolk being so kind."

"But of course!" said Sidon, with extra emphasis as he frowned slightly. For such a simple statement, that last sentence struck a discordant note for him and he didn't much like the sound of it. "Think nothing of it! And if there's anything I can do to help you, be it assisting you in your pursuit for the way back home or getting settled while you're here, please don't hesitate to ask. I shall strive to accomplish all that I can."

"Thank you, Sidon. Meantimes, I'm gonna try and learn as much as I can while I'm here. Maybe we'll be in a class together." She knew she wouldn't be likely to mistake him for someone else.
