Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The tables and chairs had been scattered around the lawn - some near the food, some not, some in the shade, some not - and the food was ready for anyone who wanted to come by and greet the new people.

Enjoy your last picnic where shirtlessness will be enjoyable until next summer, folks!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Summer!" Hera was coming in for a hug now. "I'm so happy to see you back. How have you been?"

"Hera! Hi!" HUGS! Like Summer would ever not want hugs from one of her favorite people ever. "I'm good! No, actually, I take that back, I'm great! I'm so sorry I haven't had a chance to come see you yet since I got back, but I've been swamped with getting everything all set up with the new place and the store. How are you? Sounds like there's been a few interesting weeks around here lately."

"No problem. I was hoping I'd see you here, though. As far as weeks..." She shrugged. "Fandom, you know?"

"Yeahhhhhhhh," said Summer, shaking her head slightly, "that's just about the gist of things I got from Kanan." She snorted. "And he said he was worried I might feel bored coming back."

To be fair, he did have a better idea of the wildness she dealt with at home on a regular basis, too, but still!

"I am glad to be back, though," she added. "Like, really glad. It still hasn't completely sunk in yet, but, man, I missed this!"

"I can't imagine anyone would be too bored here," Hera said. "But we've missed you, too. Kanan said you're running the store now?"

Summer laughed. "So he did tell you!" she said. "Good. Yeah, I bought Turtle & Canary. Bought it. I'm a business owner now! It's so weird, but I had Amaya and Apu show me the ropes yesterday, and I think I'll get a hang on it pretty quick. If anything, it'll really give me the experience I need if I'm ever going to get that jello business started."

"That's a good idea," Hera agreed. "Plus it'll give you a place to get supplies from reliably."

"Exactly!" Summer beamed. "That's exactly what I told Kanan. One of my first orders of business is to see about possibly getting in a steady supply of caf for him."

And those mellonroon things that Hera liked, but that was going to be a surprise.

...a surprise that would be a lot easier to pull off if Summer could properly remember what they were actually called.

"Not gonna lie, a part of me is a little bit too excited to be able to potentially hold caf over his head a little."

Hera laughed. "We can always get it from back home, you know. It's a bit more trouble, but not insurmountable."

Unless the two of them ganged up on him. Which was entirely possible if he did anything colossally stupid.

"Well, yeah, sure," said Summer, rolling her eyes, but she was grinning, "but I'm really hoping to make the appeal to his lazier side."

A side that, from the looks of it, he could stand to indulge in a little bit more lately.

"...what about you, though, Hera? What've you been up to?"

Hera shrugged. "Pretty much the usual. Made a few runs back home, worked on the Ghost. And we're teaching again this semester."

"Yeah, Kanan told me about that, too!" Summer said with a smirk. "The teaching part. Something about charity and ways to help other people who might need it?" The smirk was easily softening into something akin to admiring. "He said it was all your idea, too."

Hera shrugged. "Well, it seemed like a good way to make a difference. Maybe to show other people they can. It's less about teaching and more about just doing it."

"I think it's a great idea," Summer gushed. "I know if I was still a student, it'd be one of the first ones I'd sign up for. And not just because you guys were teaching it, even though I still think it's totally weird that things worked out that I never got to take a class with you guys. I am absolutely going to pop in and see how things are going when I can, though. And you should pop into my class if you can. I'll be teaching at the community center!"

"You know we'd love to see you," Hera said. "What are you teaching?"

"It's about technology and social media in Earth's 21st century," Summer offered, feeling incredibly proud of herself. "In other words, contemporary stuff. I think it could be useful with so many people from different times and places to understand how to utilize all that stuff effectively, especially since it's such a big part of this culture, you know?"

Plus, she was dying to see what would happen if she unleashed BDG onto Snapchat, and since he promised to take the class, it was so going to happen.

"That does sound pretty useful," Hera agreed. "I might have to drop by."

"Please do!" Summer said, maybe a little too quickly, because, yeah, she might be a little terrified that no one would be interested in taking it. At the very least, though, she would end up with poking around on Instagram for the whole session with BDG, and that didn't sound like the worst fate, even with the giant blow to her ego. "The more, the merrier, right?"

"Definitely." Hera nodded. "Besides, I'll admit I'm curious."

"Yeah?" You definitely had Summer's attention now, Hera. As...if you didn't have it before. 'Anything in particular you might want to know about that I can try to work into my lesson plans if it's not there already?"

"I'm honestly not sure," Hera said. "Maybe just, what all the technology is? I've been using my comm; I'm still not sure what exactly Earth's are like."
