Summer Games, Wednesday Morning

Today the park was set up with the normal bleachers for observers, and also thoughtfully provided cheap plastic rain ponchos for people who wished to observe without being in the blast zone. There didn't seem to be a single adult manning any of the food stations, which could explain the choices: heavy on super spicy junk food and no salad to be seen anywhere.

The most noticeable difference from last week, though, was probably the weedy teenager with the, frankly, hilarious haircut wielding the megaphone today. He had a little ponytail and a braid looping down over his right ear. It was a lot of look. "Right!" he yelled. "So I woke up today with this set of instructions next to my bed: apparently I'm in charge of doing paintball today, which sounds surprisgly not-stupid for a school event! We're going to be in two teams, so listen for your name since I don't recognize...most of them."

He shrugged that off. Must be another weird Fandom amnesia day or something. And paintball was way more important than giant gaps in his memory, right? "Okay, this is Team Red: you wear the ugly red jumpsuits over there--" he pointed helpfully, "--and your paintball guns and don't forget your eye protection and blah blah don't poke your eyes out, etc. Team members are: Ahsoka, Verity, Kaidan, Miguel, Paris, Aloy, Vanessa, Peter, Jaylah, Peridot, Tip. Alec, Amaya, Steve, Cara, Seivarden, Tony, Sabine, Jason, Summer, and Theron."

He waited for those team members to get moving. "Okay. Team Blue is: Aphra, Astrid, Rosa, Jaina, Kanan, Eliot, Beaker, Liam, Hannibal, Manfred, Hera, Kathy, Sidon, Magnus, Uma, Cristina, Breq, Bobby, Wade, Reno, and me." He consulted his paper again, then made a face. "Okay, we were supposed to just stay in the park, but that sounds incredibly boring, so I'm going to give us five minutes to make a quick plan with our team and then say that the entire island is fair game for as long as it takes one team to take out the other team."

Complete anniliation. Surely that boded well for his future life choices! "Last man, woman, or--" his eyes drifted to Beaker, confused, "--other...standing wins for their team and gets to take home the--" he squinted at the paper again. "Terrifying fish thing?"

On cue, the fish flew into his hand. Over the past week, it had been modified again: now to smell like pumpkin spice, put off small fireworks and holographic projections of flowers with smiley faces as it flew, and telepathically project "The Song That Never Ends" into the minds of anyone too close to it.

Anakin hated this thing on sight.

"For the first time in my life, I'm considering losing," he said, staring at the fish. "Anyway! Teams, get together and plan! You have five minutes and...go!"

Kathy had come to the park to read a book, but ended up creeping over to see what everyone was doing over here. She watched off to the side, looking like she expected to get shooed off at any moment. Sometimes she even pretended to read so nobody thought she was staring.

Okay, so Cristina definitely didn't care about anything and was only here to make fun of people, and she'd done everything in her power to make that abundantly clear.

But there was a tiny Asian book nerd over here, reminding Cristina a whole lot of herself at that age (a whole three or four years ago). So she got the honor of being the person Cristina chose to be nice to.

"That's a good one," she said. "You've got taste."

Had Jonothon changed to a teenager or not today? It was probably difficult to tell, given the fact that his body had hit something of a soft reset of several years in the wake of what had happened with Legion and that whole Fortress X thing a while back. So one would have to just guess based on appropriate context for today as to what exactly the case was.

Like the way he'd wrapped himself up before heading outside today, and the way he was very thankful that he hadn't signed himself up for paintball, because that would require being social, and sod that.

And the way that he wasn't so much mingling as he was lurking off to the sides, pretending that doing so meant he was being social.

... Okay, they were subtle cues, granted. Either way, Jono was hanging off to the side, wondering who the hell most of these people even were. He recognized... Bobby? And Deadpool. Which was a shorter list than he'd expected today. Whatever.

So, Summer had said that she'd promise to skip her classes one Wednesday and come down to see what these Summer Games that Kanan kept telling her about were all...about. And of course Summer was the kind of person who, when she said "yeah, yeah, I'll get to it eventually," did it that week, partially because she felt it had a better element of surprise, and also because you honestly never knew what might happen in the future. Two, three, four weeks from now, she could be replaced by a robot or a clone or off letting out some frustration in a post-apocalyptic hellscape, getting married to the first guy who showed an ounce of vulnerability as you marauded the survivors and ate their dead corpses.

So, yeah. Ce la vie, right?

Of course, when she got to the park, she was a little surprised, maybe even a little miffed, because this looked like way more than the...what, five?...new students BDG had mentioned being a BDG to. She had sort of prided herself as a student, after all, of getting to know mostly everyone, even if only on the surface for partying purposes, so she didn't think they were all people she missed. Clearly, she needed to demand some answers from Kanan here.

...If only she could find him.

Man, she was going to go from miffed to pissed in three-point-five seconds if he chose this Wednesday to go on a mission or a run or something.

No mission for Kanan! Nah, it was so much more ridiculous than that. And besides, if you asked Caleb, he'd just gotten back from a mission yesterday, which he was still feeling a little weird about.

Anyway, he was here with... his? dog, who he figured was going to just sit off to the side of the playing grounds to wait until the exercise was over with, and that would have been good enough for him, except that said dog was kind of dragging him bodily toward the confused-looking red-haired girl.

So, have one dog, and one bemused-looking scrawny kid in Jedi robes, with hair every bit as stupid as Anakin's, there.

"Sorry," Caleb said, wide-eyed as Stance tried to jump up at her to say hello, prompting him to make a desperate grab for the dog's collar. "Sorry, he just kind of got away from me there."

After spending...way too much time playing with every single weapon that was in her new house, Amaya decided to check out this new place, since it seemed her father had decided to just up and move again, only this time he managed to pull it off while she was sleeping. She was kind of impressed, actually, but, then again, all those weapons didn't hurt at all. She could really like this place, there was even a ship at the docks so it even made her think a little of Llewdor. And something exciting seemed to be going on in the park, so she went to see what that might be all about, too, pushing up her glasses and running her tongue over the front of her teeth again with a small smile. Sure, she'd just gotten them removed, but she didn't think she'd ever get over how great it felt to not have those braces anymore!

After this morning, Kitty had come out to see what was happening here, and good lord, was she the only adult here? What was the island trying to tell her with this? Also was there any food that wouldn't make her want to die later?

Whatever, she was sitting to watch. And record stuff with her phone.

Hey, Kitty! Heads-up. Caleb was being dragged bodily from person to person via a rainbow dog, and even trying to reason with Stance about it didn't seem to be doing him any good.

"Come on, buddy," he murmured, tripping along behind Stance as he trotted over to Kitty, "you can make friends, but no jumping up this time, okay?"

It wasn't like there was a lot that ever happened in town, so Brooke was coming down to watch the festivities, since there was no way in hell she was trying it herself. Well, in a normal setting she might have. At Fandom, she'd be out and probably hurt by the time the game even started, so noooope.

She'd just sit on the side and watch today.

Turns out Ahsoka's bad feeling about whatever had happened for the squirrels to palm radio off on her was completely justified.

Hopefully Anakin wouldn't try hitting on her this time.

Cara was not happy. After waking to a rodent infestation, she apparently had to mingle and play fight.

Miguel's weird flat phone had told him to be here, so he was here. He...wasn't really sure about the paintball thing, but as long as nobody decided to try to actually kill him (KRON), he figured he'd be fine.

This...was not Paris or medical school. Hannibal wasn't sure exactly where this was. And...paintball? He worked the word around in his head a bit until he got it - that hadn't been exactly in his English vocabulary.

"The heck is sriracha?" Eliot, being a good little southern boy who went to church on Sundays with his mama (for at least a very little bit longer). He didn't make a habit of casually cursing. "Aw, never mind. I'll eat pretty much anything's been deep fried. Pile it on, man!"

Cristina was cooler than anyone else here.

This was not surprising. Even if she had had to go out and get a fresh pack of cigarettes and a lighter from the gas station, since apparently someone had replaced hers with a weirdly giant first aid kit.

At least they hadn't found her stash of tequila.

Anyway, she had every intention of just watching and mocking this pathetic little summer camp train wreck. It wasn't like she had anything better to do. Honestly, she was just glad not to be stuck in freaking Beverly Hills anymore.

Liam had been just out for a walk when he noticed the crowd beginning to gather, and curiosity brought him closer. Paintball? What was that about?

Kaidan had woken up with a headache, and the day hadn't gotten better from there. He'd apparently been sent to some sort of boarding school, his clothes were of the 'you'll grow into this someday, Son' variety, and everything was in color. Not a black shirt or sweatpants in the bunch. At least his shoes fit. He went for a walk and found the park, where some sort of activity was going on.

He heard his name called. "What the..?" Ugh. Mandatory school 'bonding' activities. He scowled and wandered through the crowd, trying to figure out what was going on.

Constantine didn't know the fuck he was, or the fuck everyone was, but that didn't stop his 'trouble' radar from drawing him out of the place he'd been holed up in and out to the park.

Bottle he'd swiped from the flat in one hand and a smoke in the other, and yeah, he'd watch this shite, looked like chaos that'd be an entertaining bit of time.
