Summer Camp Wednesday [The Park]

Today's beautiful weather was made for sitting outside and doing craft projects, which was good, because that's what you were doing. A number of tables were set up around the park, each filled with macrame and micro macrame--which was a thing Anakin had learned this week-- supplies: cording of various colors, beads, crystals, and other bits of shiny things (though the supplies were getting depleted as the squirrels kept stealing them), and a few macrame patterns mostly for dresses and other clothing-like items.

Even more worryingly, there was a runway set out down the middle of the area, along with two chairs set aside for judges.

"Right!" Anakin said, yelling into his bullhorn again. "Today you will be working in teams under a one-hour time limit to create a piece of macrame fashionwear. It does not have to be very large--it's not going to be for any of you to wear. The dimensions are provided at your stations, and the models will be arriving shortly."

Anyone have a bad feeling about that? Good.

"This week's winners will win the highly coveted Billy the Bass singing fish--" he glanced around. "Where'd that kriffing thing get off to?" He raised his hand and the fish, propelled by its own power and shrieking Sabatoge flew in from...somewhere.

"...that was odd." He glared at the assembled crowd. "Please refrain from stealing the fish until after the winner is determined this week. Listen carefully for your name and then join your team. You will have an hour to learn how to macrame and then your models will arrive and parade down the catwalk. The winners will be determined by our fashion experts Sparkle and Brooke. Your teams are as follows:

Paris, Seivarden, and Astrid
Peter, Sabine, and Tip
Jason, Ahsoka, and Norman
Verity, Aphra, and Rosa
Bobby, Mitsutada, and Hardison
Liam, Miguel, and Uma
Hannibal, Cristina, and Rufus
Steve, Yang, and Sidon
Amaya, Kitty, and Beaker
Hera, Kanan, and Breq
Jono, Kathy, and Rey
Eliot and Ino

You may begin...now."

And a giant glowing timer that Anakin had gotten from...somewhere... began ticking down the hour.

"Tying knots, huh? Sounds simple enough," Kanan decided.

Because Kanan could sometimes be a cocky idiot.

"Hopefully," Hera agreed. She picked up a bright orange cord and tried tying it into a knot. "Okay, so do we just knot several of them together?"

"I mean, that works for me if it works for you two," Kanan replied, shrugging. He could pull out his phone and look up instructions, but really, it was knots. How difficult could it be?

Breq looked at Hera's knot, and picked up a cord of her own.

"I think it would be easiest if we use one of us as a model to tie around, and then pull the whole thing off when we're finished," she suggested.

Kanan squinted at the measurements that were given, and then glanced at Hera.

"One of our arms, maybe? This thing doesn't need to be very large."

Or one of Hera's lekku. It would probably be easier to get the rope off of Hera's lek. But suggesting that seemed kind of rude, so Kanan was sitting on that impulse.

Breq, on the other hand, had no such qualms.

"Tying them around your head would make a nice headdress that we could get off your head afterwards," she suggested to Hera.

Breq didn't know, so Hera would forgive it, but...

She winced. "Do you think we're good enough not to get me caught in them? Lekku are pretty sensitive." She had her doubts, since none of them had done this before.

"Maybe it's better to not risk it," Kanan said after a brief pause. "It isn't like any of us knows how to do this..."

He held out his arm.

"Here. Around my bicep should do just as well. I don't have anything terribly important in there."

Like, say, actual brain matter.

Hera gave him a grateful look. "Thank you."

It saved her from unwanted pinching, and also from explaining even to herself that she might not know Breq, but she'd trust Kanan with her lekku.

"I apologize," Breq said to Hera, her face expressionless. "I didn't mean to suggest we hurt you."

"I know," Hera said. "You don't know any other twi'leks. But an arm really is a better idea."

"Twi'leks keep some pretty important stuff in their lekku," Kanan explained, rolling up his sleeve to make the rope easier to slide off again once their... whatever... was done. "It's hard to make a good comparison. Asking if we can do this around somebody's throat, maybe?"
