Physical Education, Thursday, May 17, 2018
Today's PE class was on a part of the beach designated for swimming. They were greeted by Steve and Tony in swimtrunks. "Hello, everyone," Steve began. "I hope you were less rainbow colored than I was after I finished up the rowboat competition yesterday."
"Though there was some concern about people's ability to swim," Tony said with a smile that said he knew well enough why people wanted Steve to rescue them. "So, today we'll be working on the basics."
Steve nodded seriously, totally not knowing why people wanted him to rescue them. "So grab a kickboard and we'll start with leg drills, and progress from there, okay?"
"But first, let's watch a PSA on water safety." Tony went through the effort of bringing one of those terribly old fashioned school TVs to the beach. All for this moment.
"You didn't," Steve hissed. "Did you borrow them from Hardison?"
"You make it sound like I can't procure them on my own," Tony said while on the TV, Captain America sat backwards on a chair to show how hip he was.
"So, you want to learn to swim--" TV Cap said in a hearty voice while Steve just shook his head and blushed.
And Tony was bust trying his very best not to laugh at poor Steve. "We can do our introductions in the water."
"Heaven forbid we interrupt the video," Steve muttered while Cap continued to talk in that same boisterous tone about the virtues of knowing how to swim.

Watch the Instructional Video!
Re: Watch the Instructional Video!
"Please tell me they paid you a lot to look that dumb," she finally commented.
Re: Watch the Instructional Video!
But why was the teacher dressed like that??
At least it was better than what one of the Arts & Crafts teacher was actively wearing, but still. Astrid may have spent just as much time watching the video as she spent bouncing her eyes back and forth between the TV teacher and the teacher standing before them now.
Was it a character he did? Why?
And really, why did she keep questioning everything instead of just resigning herself to the fact that this was her life now?
Re: Watch the Instructional Video!
A lot.
"What."
Re: Watch the Instructional Video!
Introduce Yourself!
Re: Introduce Yourself!
That last was said with a straight face and total innocence.
Re: Introduce Yourself!
Re: Introduce Yourself!
And it had showed with that rowing performance.
Re: Introduce Yourself!
Dodgeball, Theron. Dodgeball was now allll your fault.
Re: Introduce Yourself!
"I'm Astrid," she offered, legs kicking underneath her lazily, steadily; it did feel good to get in the water. "I'll be a freshman, and I've been swimming for as long as she could remember."
Whole days spent lounging in pools or on the beach, watching the waves with nothing better to do.

"I'm Norman, I'm heading into my junior year now?" Figuring out what year you were during the summer was always a bit confusing. "And I used to swim a bit as a kid, but I haven't exactly been swimming in a while."
Apparently he could row a boat just fine, though.
Re: Introduce Yourself!
Re: Introduce Yourself!
"It helps that the weather is better than it has been now," he offered. "Though I guess there is the pool in the dorms."
But it just wasn't the same as swimming outside in the summer, okay?

Stupid stairs.

Re: Introduce Yourself!
Norman paused for a moment, considering that.
"Rock climbing could be fun?"
It would probably be better than that time he'd almost fallen off a flying tree to his death because of an angry ghost.
Re: Introduce Yourself!
Tony.
Re: Introduce Yourself!
"I... have also never ridden a horse," Norman admitted. "But I'll take your word for it."
Professor Rogers seemed to know what he was talking about, there.

Swim!
Oh, you lucky kids.
Re: Swim!
Mysteriously.
Re: Swim!
Her performance might have faltered a little bit and she may have struggled with the more demanding drills, but it had more to do with the fact that she had nearly no athleticism or stamina than anything else.
Re: Swim!
Until his bad knee gave out mid breaststroke-kick, that is. Still, he was stubborn and was going to push through and finish. Just with a dolphin-kick instead, now.

Re: Swim!
At least they didn't have to do butterfly.
