History of Art / Studio Art Combined Studio | March 24, Periods 5&6

Most of interior of the classroom has been cleared of furniture. What remains has been stacked at the front of the class, along with a selection of things like packing crates, pilates balls, stepladders, that sort of thing.

Autolycus grinned like a maniac. "Today, kids, you're going to work together to create an installation."

Rory cocked her head at Parker.

"You've never been in love before, have you?"

Parker looked away, biting her lip. "No?" she laughed again, rolling her eyes as she looked back at Rory. "Yes, this is-- new. And so weird."

[back in an hour!]

"It's daunting, yeah," Rory agreed. "And different for everyone, I think. I know it scared me really, really bad the first time." She tilted her head. "And the second time, too, for that matter."

[*wavinates*]

Angel? More than happy to ignore all of this as he drew sketches of the artwork to be.

Girls were weird.

"It is scary, but it was a hundred times worse when I thought it was just me." Parker shook her head. "I was getting ready to just get over it, or try to, and then, this." Bright, bright smile. "He loves me."

"I know," Rory said with a smile. "I'm happy for you. That's the best feeling ever."

"I almost, almost feel sorry for all the times I teased you about Logan. Or anyone else." Parker grinned. "Almost."

"Yeah, don't feel bad about Logan. That...wasn't like this."

Whether she was referring to her own relationship at the moment, or Parker and Jarod, or both? Wasn't exactly clear.

"Everyone should get to feel like this. At least once." She twirled. "God, I hope the urge to dance goes away. This could get ridiculous."

"And see, I think what you have is better than anything I've had before. Since Jarod is your absolute match. Nothing's ever worked out for me," Rory said, her smile faltering a little bit.

Parker is not about to get into all the problems that this relationship has facing it-- starting with the 14-month-deadline she's facing, because after Graduation, she and Jarod are in even more trouble than Callisto and Angel. But she does calm down enough to stop twirling, and actually look at Rory. "Rory? Is something... wrong? I mean. Aren't you still happy that someone just got back?"

"No, I'm fine," Rory said, waving her off. "Just remembering that even if people come back, they do eventually have to leave again. But seriously. You and Jarod. When are you seeing him again?"

Parker's far too buzzed to follow up on that, but she's going to remember it for later. Probably.

"Tomorrow, I think. He works the desk at the Sin tonight. Although maybe I'll call him." She spun in place three times. "I keep thinking maybe I dreamed that conversation, then I look at the book, and it's real. I didn't-- I didn't even start hoping until yesterday, and now...." Parker laughed breathlessly. "I don't know what to do with myself. God. No wonder people are asking if I'm on something."

"Yeah, it's very...un-you. I mean, it is, but I have never seen you this happy. At least," Rory amended, "not without a whole lot of exhaustion and accomplishment mixed in."

"I have no idea what time I fell asleep last night. I got off the phone with him around ten, I think." Parker shook her head, turning a little red. "If I'm being too much of an idiot, tell me and I'll go dance in my room until I calm down. I just-- nothing this good has happened to me in a long, long time. No Student Council seat, no set of straight A's, no pair of shoes, nothing compares. My birthday party was the closest in recent memory, I guess. And that's still not even in the ballpark."

Rory nodded in agreement. "There's nothing like it. It's like...it's like that rush of a first kiss, except bigger and stronger and so much scarier, but in the best way."

"Jarod was my first kiss." Parker paused. "Although, I was nine, so I don't think that counts."

"Yeah, wee-person kissies don't count. Though that's a nice little circle."

Parker nodded, dancing a little again. "Yeah, I thinks so." She grinned. "Jaye is going to be so mad she's not here this weekend. She wanted to drink to us if we ever got together, although she also said she might bounce around the control booth and hurt herself if it happened."

"Poor Jaye," Rory said, really not meaning it. "I want to see you guys all cute together."

Parker turned more red. "Not until after we've gotten a proper damn kiss. And some time alone. And you know, I don't think we really do 'cute.'"

"You do," Rory said firmly.

Parker rolled her eyes, shook her head, then grabbed a box of glitter and shook it at Rory. "I think this installation calls for glitter, don't you? Just because."

"Well, yeah. Glitter," Rory said, as though this explained everything. She grabbed a handful and flung it at abandon.

Parker chortled and started flinging glitter herself, some of it at the Pilates balls, some at the steps, some at the basin full of Jell-O trying to set.
