Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Over on this part of the school lawn... yeah, it was still chilly. Stupid winter, doing its winter thing. But there were plenty of chairs and tables for people watching, feasting on warm foods and drinks, and generally attempting to meet the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"I didn't mean to travel at all," Uma said. "I don't even know how I got here. The ocean brought me."

But also yeah, she'd travel light if she'd known she was traveling. Poverty did that. Besides, who wanted to bring anything from the Isle with them?

"Uma," Uma said. "Daughter of Ursula." No one else had reacted when she'd given her mother's name, but she kept throwing it out there to see if someone would. And then she'd know it was all a joke. "The last great party of the year? How many do you have?"

Some of the Villain Kids of the more notorious parents had birthday parties, usually either Mal or Evie. Ursula had never seen the point of celebrating her daughter's birth and she'd stopped going to Mal's after the 'Shrimpy Incident.'

"I've had...." Summer attempted to count, realized that too much stuff had happened in the past year to really keep track and just gave up. "Too many to count, really. You're clearly not from here, so you probably don't know, but tomorrow is the last day of our calendar year. And it's kind of a big deal, so we celebrate. You don't have to, obviously, but I mean, come on. You said the ocean brought you, right? Just go with the flow, Uma, Daughter of Ursula."

For a brief second, she thought of calling herself Summer, Daughter of Beth, and nearly gagged.

No, Uma wasn't from around here and she didn't know, but she was also pretty sure she didn't like Summer's tone while pointing it out. Her eyes narrowed.

"The last time I was at a party, I poured punch on the hostess," she said sweetly.

In fairness, Mal had had it coming. Also, they'd been twelve.

"So sure, I'll come."

Summer had spent the better part of her holiday break straight up murdering aliens with a pitchfork. So, yeah, she was not going to hesitate to throw down with some girl who thought she was being cute by throwing punch around.

But still, she smiled back just as sweetly as Uma's tone as she said, "Great. Sounds great. I can't wait."

In fairness, Mal had deserved that and worse. And, in a way, this was Uma's response to recognizing a social rival.

"So glad you came over to personally invite me," Uma said with a grin. "So now there's no chance I would miss it." Except for the mun running out of time before her own RL party.
