Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Over on this part of the school lawn... yeah, it was still chilly. Stupid winter, doing its winter thing. But there were plenty of chairs and tables for people watching, feasting on warm foods and drinks, and generally attempting to meet the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Hey Summer," Tip greeted. "Anything crazy happen when you were home on break?"

Was she kind of tempted to just ask if Summer had come back as a robot again? Yes. Was she going to break down and do it eventually?

And hello to you, too, Tip.

Summer's head tilted back as she grunted very dramatically for a moment before she looked back. She almost didn't want to go into it, but Tip always was a good sounding board for all the insanity in her life, and she really hadn't had a chance to complain about it to anyone yet except Morty.

"I don't know," she said, "would you considering my dad's crazy, hopefully now completely, totally, Facebook-official ex almost murdering me crazy?"

"I mean -- yes," Tip said, only staring a little. "Being murdered totally counts."

She definitely didn't entirely follow that whole list of modifiers on just who did the murdering, no.

"Then, yeah," Summer said, not at alllllllllll bitter about it, nooooo, "then I'd say my break was pretty crazy. Word of advice? If you ever meet a Krootabulon, do not soul-bond with them, no matter how hunky they are." And she had to admit, Keara's ex was pretty hunky. "You will end up in an endless cycle of hunting other aliens and then when you try to break up with them, they'll totally take it out on your kids because you're a spineless beta male sexist racist who doesn't have the balls to admit that you only got into the relationship to try to make your ex-wife who couldn't care less jealous who you're soul-bonding with."

Yeah. At one point, that conversation definitely moved far, far away from the general sense of you.

"But anyway," Summer smiled and tilted her head, batting her eyelids innocently, "how was your break, Tip?"

This was why Tip liked Summer. She made even the Boov seem boring and normal.

"It was pretty good," she said, after a moment's pause to just . . . absorb all that. "J.Lo made me this hat."

And Summer finally got a chance to see past how much her dad sucked for a moment to actually notice that there was a freaking adorable frog hat on Tip's head.

"Awwwww," she said. She'd really enjoyed J.Lo in the brief moments she got to spend with him during Parents Weekend, and she could appreciate the image of him knitting that hat way too much. "That's actually really awesome. I don't think I could ever wear it, but I think you pull it of really, really well, Tip."

And then she sighed.

"Your break was a million times better than mine."

Tip would love this hat even if it wasn't totally cute. It was warm and silly, and thus perfection.

"Well, the whole part where Christmas got turned into Smekday and the whole thing has just the weirdest associations kind of sucked, but that happens every year. Also, no one tried to kill me."

"Yeah, see?" Summer said pointedly. "Although a giant homeless Santa didn't explode over our city this year like last year, so...Actually, I have no idea if that's better than getting almost murdered. Christmas doesn't have great connotations for me anymore, either."

"Welcome to the anti-Christmas club, then. If we're both around next year, we can be angry together at the island forcing cheer on everyone."

"I did kind of like some of the stuff that happened this year," Summer admitted, "even if I did gain, like, five pounds from all those treats."

She patted her stomach a little, but something had shifted. She seemed to have gone a little sad.

"I'll graduate after this semester," she said, which seemed awesome, sure, but...

"I'll probably not be here next semester."

Which should seem like a good thing, except that she realized that she had no idea what to do with herself after graduation. She hoped she'd be helping BDG and Miss Hera fighting their evil empire, but...they didn't seem like they were going anywhere any time soon....

..and there was no way she was just going to go back home.

"Oh." Tip grimaced sympathetically at the look on Summer's face. "Sorry. I kind of lose track of who's in what class. Maybe I'll have to just text you pictures of it at college?"

"I don't really know if I want to go to college," Summer admitted, wrinkling her nose. The only thing she'd want to go for was the parties, if she was honest.

"I don't really know what I want to do..."

Yes, she did. She wanted to fight evil space empires in a galaxy far, far away. She wanted to bring down bad guys and ravage war-torn lands and kick major ass.

But somehow that didn't seem like a 'proper' answer to the question.

She shrugged. "I guess I'll worry about that later. I've still got, like, the whole semester to figure it out, right?"

Tip shrugged and nodded. She was pretty sure college applications probably required more time than that, but anything else, why not take your time?

"It's pretty weird that everyone thinks you should plan your whole future when you're a teenager, huh."
