Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Over on this part of the school lawn... yeah, it was still chilly. Stupid winter, doing its winter thing. But there were plenty of chairs and tables for people watching, feasting on warm foods and drinks, and generally attempting to meet the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Well, she was getting a non-weird-looking person approaching her for now.

"Paris," Summer said, looking a little reluctant to be doing this, but she was determined to invite everyone. "You're looking....cozy."

"My mother sent the scarf to me for Hanukkah," Paris said with almost a smile. "From her ski trip to Switzerland."

That Paris had not been invited on. But it was fine. Fine.

"Super cute," said Summer, and she meant it, actually. Winter accessories had so much potential.

"Anyway, so, I know you're probably not the party-on-a-school-night type, but I am having a New Years party on the second floor tomorrow, if you'd like to come."

She was inviting everyone, sure, but she felt it wouldn't hurt to invite Paris personally. She seemed like the type to appreciate a face-to-face invitation, and she was technically Paris's Big Sister, even if a robot did sign her up for that particular duty.

"I'm not really much of a New Year's Eve partier," Paris admitted. "It seems like a lot of set up to not get kissed."

"Well, there's not a whole lot in the way of good kissing around here anyway," Summer murmured dryly, which might have kind of been fueled by the fact that, even of the slim pool of options available to her, she'd had no luck. "So don't think of it like that. Think of it as just a celebration of the upcoming year in hopes that it'll be better than the last. Not that it has a whole lot to beat out, but, you know. Start everything on a good foot with friends, that sort of thing."

"True," Paris said. "I would really like to see this year just...stop existing."

"See?" Summer said. "So you've got to come celebrate. Really kick 2017 right out the door and bring 2018 in with style."

In a dormitory common room.

Shut up, she makes it cool.

"It's not a party until Paris Geller shows up!" was a thing that had...never been said.

"Thank you for the invitation," Paris said with a tiny smile. "Maybe it won't be completely awful."

High praise, Paris.

"Hey," said Summer. "All my parties have rocked so far. And there've been a pretty decent amount of them since I got here. They're just really....small."

She shrugged.

"Sometimes small is good. The last party I threw back home was huge, and we kind of end up breaking the universe and, like, people probably died. So....yeah, my Fandom parties are way better."

There was a slight pause.

She remembered that Paris has said Hanukkah.

"The guy who probably died was a genetic construct of Abraham Lincoln and Adolf Hitler, though. Abradolf Lincler. So it's kind of okay."

Paris blinked. "What genius thought squishing those two together was a good idea?" she demanded.

Summer snorted, rolling her eyes, but there was a weird, faintly proud smirk on her face. "That would be my grampa."

"That was not a good idea," Paris said.

"I think he realized that pretty much after the fact," Summer shrugged. "I think he said he wanted to make a morally neutral superleader, but only ended up making a morally confused trainwreck."

"Whoops," Paris said dryly.
