Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Over on this part of the school lawn... yeah, it was still chilly. Stupid winter, doing its winter thing. But there were plenty of chairs and tables for people watching, feasting on warm foods and drinks, and generally attempting to meet the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"...what?" Theron said around a mouthful of something fried.

That was probably a no to the phone question.

"Your phone?" Summer tried again, lifting hers up for demonstration. "Communication device? Walkie talkie? Carrier pigeon? A zeep blarp zingbap, or whatever other device you might use to send messages to other people?"

She shook her head, waving a hand. "You know, it doesn't matter. Either way, there's going to be a party tomorrow in the second floor common room for New Years. Tomorrow's the last day of our calendar year here on Earth, and it's usually celebrated with a big old party, which is kind of dampered by the fact that we have school the next day. But still, it'd be really cool if some of the new kids made it, because it'll be a good way to let loose and get to know everyone in a context that isn't, you know, school mandated."

"Oh, a comm," Theron said, after swallowing. "I don't have one."

Who was he going to call, Master Zho was gone and Satale, well, that wasn't happening.

"Oh."

Summer's shoulders sagged.

"That's a bummer. Well, whatever, that's fine, too, because that just means I can invite you personally and more formally. My name is Summer Smith, and I'm holding a New Years party tomorrow night. It's this thing people do on this planet," she was assuming from the robes and lack of a phone a familiarity with a similar device that it was a different planet sort of thing or something similar, "every year to celebrate. It'll be in the second floor common room; it's really easy to find, and I think you should come. The picnic's great and all, but this'll be, you know, not school related and I'm making jello shots."

"Oh, great." Theron had no idea what a jello shot was, and hadn't exactly been to many parties either. "Second floor you said?"

Probably a good idea to introduce yourself, Shan. "I'm Theron."

"Theron," Summer nodded, then smiled a little, because, let's be honest, he very easily fit in the cute category, and she was thinking there weren't enough people in that category right now as it were. "Nice to meet you. And, yeah, second floor, can't miss it, you literally have to pass it going to any other floor. Which floor are you on, anyway? Have you met your roommate? Is it a new student like yourself?"

Theron may have been cute, but he had more in common with Norman under that tree there personality wise.

"Third," he said. "And I'm not sure." Since his conversation with Jughead hadn't progressed that far yet.

This place could be an info-overload, too. She had to think back to when she first got here. Man, it was hard to think of what a complete idiot she'd been and how different her life was.

She shook her head.

"So, see? We're practically neighbors. You should totally come. Tomorrow night, you want to stick around until at least midnight, that's when all the excitement happens."

That was usually what excitement had meant previously for Theron, thanks Master Zho.

"Uhhh, no," said Summer after a moment, "because, you know, people kind of tend to die when that happens? So it's just, like, cheering and noisemakers and sometimes kissing. Nothing actually combustible, though, probably."

Who knew around this place, though?

"Sounds nice." Look, Theron had been raised by an aged space monk, parties were outside of his past experience.
