Introduction to Earth Zoology, Wednesday, period 1

The classroom was just the same as it usually was, save for the conspicuous absence of the teacher. There was a note on the center of the table:

I have been unexpectedly and unavoidably detained. Please take the class time to look up and write a brief introductory report on the Earthen animal of your choice. You may use any of the moddable texts provided in this room.

Well, Peridot had nothing better to do, so of course she was going to stick around to write a report. If it happened to be about her observations about the strangest Earth animal of all, the human being, well...

It was an interesting report, really.

They had been given a task, hadn't they? Sidon could never fathom just leaving merely because the instructor was not there, especially when he had asked something of them. Besides, it was a chance to do more research and study up on things he didn't know as much about and to work on his English writing, so it was a very worthy use of his time.

The real trouble for him was to find something truly unique that didn't remind him of anything at all in Hyrule, and then it just opened up a rabbit hole for him to tumble down, leading him through a menagerie of fascinating Earth animals and him finding it impossible to choose just one. Why, there were three-toed sloths and porcupines and armadillos and giraffes and platypuses...platypii?

But he was probably going to write something up about these elephant creatures, because the moment he saw one, he gasped. That was Vah Ruta, in flesh and bone! The design of his sister's Divine Beast had always been a curious, magical one, unlike anything seen on Hyrule and yet there it was, in a book about Earth animals, a real live creature! Eagerly, he dove in to find out more, fascinated and confused all the while.

"Yeah, no." Yang grabbed a random book and headed towards the door. "I'm gonna do this outside, or down a the coffee shop, or, like, next week right before class. I'm not wasting an hour here if he's not gonna show."

At least she was honest about it?

I'm going to be on the road all day and all of my brain has been used up preparing for vacation. There may be another phoned in class next week for similar reasons, but I'll try to get at least something up then. . . .
