Today the shop classroom is a regular shop class room. Fancy that.

"As some of you might know, Ms. Gilmore-Danes is expecting a bundle of joy some time this summer. Today your assignment is to build a gift for her baby using the glittery tools she made for us. Please make sure that anything you make will be safe for a baby."

Sam took a thick piece of wood, and cut it into large geometric shapes, sanding down the edges. She painted them bright, primary colors, using oil-based paint, so it wouldn't dissolve when chewed on. Then, she made some blocks, sanded down again, and painted bright numbers on them. Then she cut up some letters from the wood, then more sanding and painting.

She made a very large lucite box and painted it gold, then put all the shapes, numbers, and letters into it.
