Today the shop classroom is a regular shop class room. Fancy that.

"As some of you might know, Ms. Gilmore-Danes is expecting a bundle of joy some time this summer. Today your assignment is to build a gift for her baby using the glittery tools she made for us. Please make sure that anything you make will be safe for a baby."

John's in class and he sets to work making a photo collage type thing. For the frame, he carves out a large piece of wood and sands it down. Then, he finds some card stock and and cuts out ovals, circles, squares and triangles in differing areas of the card stock.

Grabbing a different color of cardstock and some stencils, he stencils captions under each shape such as "1 month old", "2 months old" and so on and so forth until he reaches "12 months old."

He glues those labels under the shapes. Then, he finds a piece of glass big enough and cuts it down to fit the frame. In goes the class, then the card stock collage and then a sturdy piece of cardboard to seal it up.

There we go, a baby photo collage of the first year.
