Creative Writing- Monday- 3rd period

"Last week your assignment was to write a story based on a photo. Of course you have a chance to read them if you want," Daria said, not bothered if no one wanted to.

"This week, you're going to challenge yourself a little more. I want you to think about what you think is your weak point in writing. We all have them. Do you have tropes or words you always fall back on? Do you have problems with plotting? Are your characters two-dimensional?" asked the cartoon. "I want you to think about that, hone in on your issue, and go to town on it. If you over-structure plots, write some absolute fluff. If you lean on a specific trope, then you beat that horse until it's dead. If some some reason you think you don't have something to improve on, think about something you hate that people do when you read, and then do that yourself. If what you turn in next week is good, then I'll consider it a bonus. But this week, you're going to write against your instincts, and see what you come up with."

The robot pictures had been much too close to home for Summer's tastes, so she had immediately dismissed those ones and wrote (what she thought was) an absolutely heartwretching tale of two star-crossed lovers who could only meet one a week in the dead of night in their secret spot on the beach or else they'd be in big trouble. But they couldn't resist the bonds of love, and they had been meeting there for months and months...until suddenly, the girl didn't show, and the boy, distraught and worried, threw himself into the ocean and drowned himself.

But it turned out the girl was just running late. She showed up about half an hour later, with ice cream and everything, only to find his bloated dead corpse washing up on shore. To which she could only respond: "Dude, really? Gross. That's so overdramatic. It's over."

And she left his body there on the beach and went to go eat all of the pizza herself in her room listening to music on Spotify.
