Creative Writing- Monday- 3rd period
Hello was for other people.
"Last week you got a prompt of 'traffic light.' Today you're going to turn those in," said Daria. "Or again, you can read it to the class if you want. I mean, we have time."

She did basically just give them prompts and let them write.
"For this week's prompt, you're going to choose one of four pictures, and write something based on it. It can be a poem, it can be a short story, whatever gets the brain juices flowing. If you really need a goal-" Paris. "-you can make it ten pages, no more, no less. But first, does anyone want to read?"

Summer had considered tempting fate by not saying anything and hoping it might have gone unnoticed that she hadn't turned in an assignment, but there were, what, five people in this class? That was hardly going to fly. So here went nothing.
"Hi, uh, so...you're a new teacher, right? So believe me when I say that I totally know how this is going to sound, but I don't have an assignment to turn in because I was in another dimension for the last few weeks, and the Summer that's been in class was a robot."

"Well it is creative writing class," she decided. "There are worse excuses."

Then Summer caught herself, because, really, sometimes, you just had to let things go.
"Right," she concluded. "So, uh, yeah. Whoops. Don't worry, I'll have something next week. Unless, you know...I'm..." She gestured a little, trying to come up with something, "kidnapped by sentient frog people from the planet Arbulon."
And it really worried her that something like that could legitimately happen to her, too.

"You know what?" Daria said. "I'll give you an option. Instead of just making up the assignment, you can write about getting kidnapped by sentient frog people from the planet Arbulon. Your choice."
And if there'd been some kind of trauma, here was an outlet.

New schools and apocalyptic dimensions were going to do nothing to hinder her complete pride in being a solid C student, after all.

"Great!" she said. "I'll take it! Thanks, Ms. Morgendorffer!"
Honestly, she couldn't have asked for a better way to help her feel normal again than earning a teacher's silent but implied scorn. It was almost like being back at Harry Herpson again! Those halcyon days! She couldn't be more pleased with herself as she turned and headed back to her seat to consider what lackluster piece of fiction she could churn out with the photo prompts for next week.
