History of Art | March 21, Period 3

Autolycus looks kinda beat up today, there's a documentary playing on the television today.

Xander is not so much with the talking. Mostly he's with the hiding behind his textbook, and very intent staring at the screen. Clearly due to an obvious scholarly fascination with Vermeer, and not the intent to avoid eye contact ever again with certain classmates.

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-03-22 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
Bridge, seeing that Xander's already here, figures he has two options. Either he can sit as far away as possible and pretend that nothing's wrong at all, or he can suck it up and apologize.

After some deliberation, he decides on option two and goes to sit down next to Xander. At least this way he's got a captive audience.

Of course, given what had happened the *last* time there had been a situation that involved the words "Bridge" and "Xander" and "captive"...

Oh...kay. Yay awkward, in the exactly what he was hoping to avoid way. Xander flicks a twitchy glance over despite his intention not to, then stares at the screen again.

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-03-22 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Best to get on with what he intended to do, then. Bridge rips out a sheet of notebook paper and scribbles a note, which he then slides over to Xander.

Can we talk?

[personal profile] soldtoarmenians 2006-03-22 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Xander stares at the note for a second, resisting the immediate urge to steal a line from Marty and go with 'Oh hellll, no.'

But like that wouldn't be more awkward? Finally he just scrawls a large __ ? __ beneath Bridge's line, and slides it back.

Xander blinks at that, wondering just what the hell he's supposed to do with and/or make of it. For... what, exactly? Except how much does he not really want to know because that would mean he's actually having this not-quite-conversation?

Eventually he just draws a circle around the question mark. He'd be giving Bridge a cautious look, if he were actually, you know. Looking at Bridge, which not so much.

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-03-22 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
Saturday. The thing with the- thing.

If this were a verbal conversation, right now would be where the flailing started.
soldtoarmenians: (1-duh)

Re: Talk During the Movie (21-Mar) - History of Art

[personal profile] soldtoarmenians 2006-03-22 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
What, because you can't flail nonverbally? Well, okay, if you're Xander it's hard to do anything nonverbally, but he's certainly up for the challenge.

If you're Xander, you can even flail nonverbally and roll your eyes a little at the same time.

Here I was thinking global warming or something. ? = why?

Re: Talk During the Movie (21-Mar) - History of Art

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-03-22 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
The problem with random flailing is that it tends to attract attention, which is exactly what he's trying *not* to do at the moment.

And, of course, now he's trying to think of how to explain this. Because, really, he's not all that sorry that the kiss *happened*.

I shouldn't have pulled the thing with the fake-out.

[personal profile] soldtoarmenians 2006-03-22 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, it's completely possible to do a full-body flinch. Yay, learning is fun. Or not.

Xander shrugs hypermegauncomfortably.

Got us out. That was the point, right?

Re: Talk During the Movie (21-Mar) - History of Art

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-03-22 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Bridge starts to write a reply.

And then scribbles it out, and starts again.

And then scribbles that out, and starts again.

No Maybe Yes.

I still should have asked. I didn't. Which isn't right, and that's why I'm sorry.

[personal profile] soldtoarmenians 2006-03-22 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
Xander's shrug is jerkier and one more exponential power of discomfort higher than before.

Whatever. Worked. He starts to slide the note back, then hesitates, as if he's trying to rate the masochism of making this exchange last one second longer, against some other motivating factor. He finally takes the paper back to add, Why me?

Yay paranoia. The winner and still champeeen.

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-03-22 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Bridge stares at the note for a few seconds.

Because it wouldn't have worked- I couldn't have made it work- if it wasn't you.

He slides the note over while looking in the opposite direction.

Xander stares at the note for [3x2√π(a few) ] seconds, then, since it's the only thing going through his head, writes down

Buh?

and slides the paper towards Bridge, with a cough to get his attention.

Bridge glances back at his desk, and sees the note.

Enthusiasm was the key.

...blink...
   ...blink...
      ...blink...

And Xander forgets to use his inside voice. Or his pen.

"Just what the hell made you think I'd be enthusiastic?"

It's... probably not that loud. It just sounds loud. To him. When he realizes he said it out loud.

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-03-22 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds pretty loud from Bridge's point of view, too. Probably because it was directed at him.

He spends the rest of the class wishing that he'd been born with a more useful ability.

Like invisibility.

Yeah, invisibility would be nice right about now.

Rory didn't watch the movie.

Rory didn't even watch Bridge and Xander, and get vaguely annoyed, like usual.

Rory just sort of stared happily into space.

Krycek was half watching the movie and half watching everyone else in class out of boredom.

He may have been doodling little shapes on his notepad as well, like little flags that one might find at the tops of castle battlements. |> |> |>

Barbossa walked up to Auto's desk lugging something shiny, gold and Aztec-y with him.

"Professor?" he said. "I be sorry that I be missin' me classes--thar were a bit o' an opportunity t' advance meself in me preferred field o' art reclamation and I weren't given much notice about it."

He placed the artifact down with a heavy "thunk."

"Please be accepting this bribe this as a token o' me sincerest apologies."

Isabel stopped by the professor's desk. "I wanted to see what I needed to do to make up for missing class last week."
