Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The fall semester was about to get into full swing, but summer wasn't about to let go of the island just yet. The sun was out, the temperature was holding steady at a comfortable 80F/27C, and most importantly, the tables were beglittered.

Speaking of tables, there were of course the ones that were filled with a vast array of food and drink, and also the ones with nametags and lists to facilitate the meeting of new roommates and siblings.

There was room to sit, room to sprawl, room to walk around and mingle... and it was a big lawn, so if you needed to get away from the crowd for a bit, room for that too.

Hannibal shrugged. "I do understand how incredible that may sound. My own world is dreadfully boring as regards such things. However," he looked around for an example, since Pinkie was no longer here, and noticed the large shark-looking person speaking to Hera. "There you are," he said, nodding in their direction.

Daria looked over, and that was weird, but come on. "As far as pranks go, that's commitment. I'd be impressed if it wasn't still dumb."

"I assure you, it is no prank," Hannibal said. "I encourage you to wander and speak to anybody you like, whether new or a long-time resident."

He held out a box to her. "I've made some sandwiches, sweets, and coffee for you as a welcome. Unless you perhaps think they're poisoned."

He would never do that to the food.

"Poisoned is a strong word," Daria said, but took it and wished she had a taste tester anyway. "Uh, thanks."

"You're quite welcome," Hannibal said. He took out his wallet and tucked a business card between her hand and the box. "Should you choose to believe me and need more of an introduction to the island's peculiarities, you may contact me whenever you like."

He could only do so much until then.
