Fighting and Fabulousity, Wednesday, 1st Period

The class was meeting in the Danger Shop, which had been programmed to look like something reminiscent of the inside of a Gothic stone cathedral - with the exception that everywhere there were sturdy shelves with rows upon rows of different kinds of weapons on them.

And in the middle of it all, Isabelle Lightwood in a fabulous dress, with something silver coiled around her waist. Possibly a fashionable belt. Those that had something supernatural in them could also probably see that there were several black rune tattoos on her arms and the back of her right hand, and other spots on her arms were criss-crossed with faint silvery scars. "Hello, and congratulations on your good taste in classes," she told the students once everyone seemed to have shown up. Or she got bored of waiting. "This is Fighting and Fabulousity, and I'm Isabelle Lightwood, your guide throughout this workshop. I'm from New York, but graduated from Fandom High two years ago, so, expect me to be very aware of how this island functions."

Especially when it came to fighting.

"Now, because this is our first session and I don't feel like breaking tradition, so we'll be doing introductions. You'll each pick a weapon, any weapon that draws your interest, from anywhere on these shelves ––" She gestured around. So many weapons. "–– and then you'll tell us who you are, why you chose what you chose." She held up a finger. "I'll demonstrate."

She lowered her hand, and with seemingly just a little flick of her wrist, the silver coil from around her waist was in her hand: a long, silvery, metallic whip. "As I said before, I'm Isabelle Lightwood – feel free to just call me Isabelle – and this is my electrum whip. It's my favorite weapon, because it's very versatile. And also because it takes skill and practice to master." She paused for a beat, then smirked impishly. "It also looks cool."

She nodded, then gestured once more towards the shelves.

"Now, pick your weapons, and let's get started."

There are so many weapons to choose from.

But no guns anywhere.

Ahsoka picked out a pair of bokken with 'blades' about the same length as her lightsabers and similar grips.

The no guns was sad. And Dante didn't find anything that spoke to him besides a large broadsword--

"Wait, the fuck's that?"

Eric was staring at the selection of weapons with a wide-eyed and maybe slightly horrified look on his face.

Sure, yes, he'd taken some basic self-defense classes in previous semesters and was more-or-less over the fainting-goat response to danger at this point but how had he ended up in this class?

Finally, he managed to find something he was pretty familiar with handling. Although maybe not in the context this class seemed to expect.

Khadgar didn't want to start with anything sharp, so he poked around - carefully! - until he found a staff in the pile. That'd do for now.

Ringo didn't actually know a ton about weapons, but she found herself drawn toward a kusarigama. The whole blade part made her a little uncomfortable, but it had a cool chain thing on it!

Name and why you picked what you picked.

"I'm Ahsoka and these seemed the most familiar." You know in a certain manner of speaking.

Isabelle's head tilted in a slightly curious fashion.

"Really? How come?" she asked. "Do you have previous experience with swords?"

"I'm Dante," Dante said, giving the funky-ass blade a twirl like he'd been born holding it. "I don't know what the hell this thing is, but it looks cool, and it's sharp as hell."

"Hello, Dante," Isabelle replied, eyeing the weapon with interest. "I don't even know the name, but ––"

And here was where she stepped towards him to take a closer look at the blade – and stopped, when the ruby that was hanging around her neck gave a brief pulse, the red stone glowing for just a second or so.

"It's... definitely from South America," she finished, only just the tiniest bit distracted. Understandable, really. Her Sensor was suggesting a demonic presence.

"Eric Bittle," he squeaked out, still looking kind of shell-shocked at being in this class.

"I found a paring knife," he managed. "Which, um. It was basically the only thing I spotted that I actually knew how to use?" For peeling fruit, not stabbing people or anything.

He was adorable. Did he know he was adorable? Because he was.

"A little more subtle," Isabelle noted. "Still useful, though for fighting with it you have to either be very brave, or have very good aim."

"I'm Khadgar and... I don't trust myself with anything sharp yet," he admitted. "But I also think I could defend myself with this if I had to."

"Why not?" Isabelle asked him. "I find sharp things are very good at teaching you to be careful with them."

You accidentally cut yourself a couple of time, you learned not to do that!

"Um. I'm Ringo Noyamano." The formality was mostly gone from Ringo's introduction, a change from two years ago, but she did still bow an offer a grin.

"And I, uh, picked this thing?" Ringo spun the chain of her kusarigama idly with one hand. "I'm kind of familiar with chain things? Though the weight on this one is kind of weird getting used to."

She grinned and shook her head. "Maybe I should have tried one of those whip things," she decided, nodding at Isabelle's

"Whips can be kind of an acquired taste," Isabelle mused, shrugging her shoulder before tilting her head at the weapon Ringo had chosen. "That seems like an interesting choice in its own right, though."
