Who has an eye for detail?

One team member had to search among several hundred Māori warriors, who were performing the traditional haka dance, for one whose tā moko face tattoo matched the pattern depicted in their clue. If they got a wrong match, the warrior would take the image away and the racer would have to start over with a new pattern.

Oh, Merrill was actually pretty good at things that called for attention to detail, like looking for intricate patterns!

Sure, she got a little bit distracted by her fascination with the tattoos and wondering what they might have in common with vallaslin, but she did really well with this particular roadblock.

It wasn't that Khadgar lacked an eye for detail. It was that he was far too interested in watching the haka to stare at their faces.

It was possible he didn't see a lot of point in rushing and being first in this class.

It wasn't that Ahsoka didn't have practice picking out individual tattoo patterns on human males who looked and sounded a lot like these.

It was having practice doing exactly that that made this roadblock far more stressful than it should have been.

Hyacinthe was far more interested in...err, appreciating Maori culture than finding the correct tattoo. It was only when their haka was drawing to an end that he remembered to even look.

Detour: Matter of Time or Matter of Skill

In Matter of Time, you had to drive to the Kiwi Orchard Farm and use your feet to crush a vat of kiwifruit to produce 12 US quarts (11,000 ml) of juice. Then you have to drink a glass of juice to receive their next clue.

In Matter of Skill, teams had to drive to Blokart Heaven, assemble a Blokart, and complete three laps around a track without tipping over or crashing. Once all laps were completed, the track official would give them their next clue.

Yeah, Merrill absolutely used magic to squeeze the juice faster, because she found the sensation of mashed kiwi between her toes unsettling. Hush.

Crushing fruit was... kind of relaxing and kind of gross, all at the same time. Khadgar had his robes up out of the way so he couldn't move that quickly

Who couldn't squish fruit? She didn't gain any time during this activity, but she didn't lose any either.

Ahsoka did the building and driving one. Not only was she good at those things, there was a high likelihood of someone pouting if no one in the class chose it.

Squishing fruit into juice? Hyacinthe had done this plenty of time back home! There was a great festival in the City of Elua every year in celebration of wine. And yes, he absolutely practiced the haka he'd watched while he crushed the fruit.
