Woodworking (and Vehicle Proficiency), Thursday - 1st Period
A rather sheepish looking Magnus was at the front of class this week. And he's brought everyone (all three of you) a frappuccino. Because they were fucking amazing.
"Hi, guys. Sorry about missing last week. I sort of... got lost over in the city off the island? Way more confusing to get around than I expected it to be!" Understatement. "But I'm here now and you all had an extra week for your ducks! Let's see where we're at and then we can look into sanding them down and talk about finishes. Sound good?"
Please say yes. He was used to teaching in montage form, okay?

Re: Show your Duck
Look! Peridot could whisper, too! She wasn't entirely sure why they were whispering, but she could absolutely do it!
Re: Show your Duck
She took a deep breath, as if trying to manage the sheer gravity of it.
"Miniature horses are not scary," she annouced. "Like, at all. They're actually some of the coolest animals on the planet. If I were rich, I would buy you one, and you'd see. But I just couldn't bear thinking I'd caused you to think they were terrible when they really rock."
Once she said it, it didn't sound all that important, but whatever. It needed to be done, and she felt a lot better now.
Re: Show your Duck
"They... rock?" She blinked. "I didn't think Earth had reached a stage in its development where it had managed to evolve inorganic life forms."
Everything was different, now.
Re: Show your Duck
Summer, stop. Look at who you were talking to. Think of what you said.
Cue facepalm. She had been so concerned with the benefit of the horses that she didn't even think about anything else. She truly was her mother's daughter without the alcohilism.
"No," she said. "Sorry. Not that kind of rocks. It's a term we use in my, ih, culture for something that's really great. So, uh, hey, look at it this way. In my culture, as a type of tock, you're already pretty great by default."
She felt that was a pretty good save, and it was NOT flirting! Still, she was suprises no one had inadvertently exposed Peridot to rocks yet.
Probably because most people weren't that culturally insensitive, Summer .
Re: Show your Duck
That had been horrifying.
"Oh..." And here Peridot had been about to get all excited. She hadn't met another inorganic life form on the island, yet. "Well, that's good too, I suppose."
Re: Show your Duck
Because that didn't sound in the least bit concincing, and Summer felt terrible. And of course she was going to keep trying to fix it.
"But, hey, Earth might be lousy for inorganic life, but I bet you anything my Grampa Rick knows of a planet that might have little rock ponies. Once I get him out of jail, I'll ask him, and then you'll see what I mean."
Re: Show your Duck
It was a very particular sort of size, Peridot's size was.
Re: Show your Duck
"Ones in your size," she agreed. They had to exist somewhere, right?
God, she hoped so.
Re: Show your Duck
She hadn't just been under the influence of the island yesterday when she said she liked big eyes, no.
Re: Show your Duck
"Oh, they have the most beautiful eyes, Peridot! They're so kind and soulful with the longest, prettiest lashes...!"
....too late.
Re: Show your Duck
Yeah, this was going to be Peridot's one concession to liking cute things. This right here.
"I can't wait to meet one! Maybe it'll want to come back to the island with us!"
This hypothetical miniature stone horse.
Re: Show your Duck
Well. Maybe not that far, but the effort would not be minimum!
.
"I bet it wiuld! I bet it would be, like, your new best friend. And, ohmygid, I bet its eyes sparkle, like, so much. Just imagine, it's standiNg there, majestic, in a field in the sunshine. Slowly, it closes it's eyes, long shiny lashes glittering. And then, just as slowly, it opens thrm again, and, bam! Sparkles! Shing! Twinkle twinkle twinkle..."
Her fingers danced in the air to emulate all the shininess. And this is why you didn't give sugar caffeine crack to seventeen year old girls, Magnus.
Re: Show your Duck
The most.
"That sounds amazing! How soon can we meet one??"
Re: Show your Duck
Re: Show your Duck
"For the time being, that will do," she settled on. "I look forward to seeing these... horses."
And their huge eyes.
Re: Show your Duck
"Wanna go
handwavily probably?after class? I havemaybe?pole-dancing later, but I'm free in the afternoon. Or another day, whatever works."Re: Show your Duck
They might intimidate slightly at their regular size, but they wouldn't disappoint.
"Yes," Peridot said, perking up a bit. "Yes, yes, yes! This afternoon
and handwavilyworks great!"Peridot was free most afternoons, really.
