Best Defence, Thursday

Today, the class would find themselves in the Danger Shop facing no one but Cassandra. Cass had her arms crossed and one eyebrow raised. "Your teacher cannot be here today due to... reasons, she said."

Rather it had been something about a film and a woman punching things that Cassandra had barely understood, but whatever.

"You joined this class to hit things," she said, "So today, we will hit things. Since there is no better teacher but experience, I have decided to let you have some. Find a creature. Hit it. Kill it, if you must. But incapacitate it somehow."

A pause.

"That is all. Do not look at me, I am not in the business of inspiring speeches."

"I am not an archer or a rogue, I am a warrior," Cassandra said, cocking her head curiously. "Why would I take potshots from a distance if the bear is coming at me, and I have my fists?"

"Exactly." Peebee. Don't do the finger guns thing at people, it's goofy. "You do that, I'd be the one hiding behind you and tossing shit at it."

... Yeah, that was a meeting that never needed to happen. It would be a feedback loop of terrible troublemaking ideas.

"And see, that's how you know you'll always be appreciated," Peebee said cheerfully. "Though you really could loosen up a little bit once in a while. It's fun, honest."

Peebee. No.

(Also, for the record, someday when she was in the back of the Nomad with Cora, snarking like she wasn't perfectly aware of how Ryder kept driving over cliffs, don't think she wouldn't throw in a few unexplained references to bear punching just to be a pain in the ass.)

"No," she said. "Go back to work."
