Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather held out nicely during the day, and while that meant some of the tables were right out in the warm sun, others had been carefully placed under some shade, and the gentle breeze had cleared at least a little of the glitter up.

It wasn't totally gone, of course. That wouldn't be any fun!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Sounds a bit that way," Sparkle agreed with a shake of his head. "Shit, being shot at is never a great time. Especially when they get that close."

"With Boov guns, you usually don't notice until later. They're totally silent, no light or anything, so you just realize at some point that your head feels kinda weird."

"Which is still better than not having a head," Sparkle allowed. "But, shit, like, even the blasters from Atton's galaxy make these cute pew-pew laser gun sounds, you know?"

Well, plasma weapon. But it wasn't like the difference mattered all that much when you were being shot at by them.

"Yeah, see, I always figured that'd be nicer? Less creepy. But then the Gorg had big loud bright guns and you know what? Neither is better. It's just creepy either way."

"Somebody actively trying to kill you is never going to not be creepy," Sparkle decided, shaking his head. "Shit, Tip. Glad you came back with nothing worse to show for it than a kickass haircut."

"Thanks." Tip gave a little shrug. "So . . . how's your break been?"

"Quiet," Sparkle replied, shrugging his shoulders right back. "Not like there's a hell of a lot to do around here, and nowhere to go. And the island hasn't actively tried to kill us in a couple of weeks..."

That pretty much summed it all up right there.

"Can't complain too much. If I really want action, there's Baltimore."

"Quiet is good?" Tip checked. "For real good, not 'it's supposed to be good so I say it's good'?"

"It's... it's 'not being shot at,' and 'not having an active reason to freak the hell out' good," Sparkle replied. "But it does give me too much time to think. That part is shitty."

Look at him, giving honesty a try.

"You need better hobbies," Tip decided. "Have you tried photography?"

"... Nope, can't say I have," Sparkle admitted, after a pause. "I guess it isn't like there's a lack of shit around here to take pictures of, huh?"

"There definitely isn't," Tip agreed. "And with digital cameras you never have to worry about wasting paper or film or whatever by practicing."

"... God, I love digital," Sparkle decided, pulling out his cell phone and holding it up. "This photo reel can't all be pictures of my fish, you know?"

Though there were a lot of them. He photoshopped his fish into fun places and then printed them off as postcards for Alluka.

"Ooo, fish pictures! I wanna see!" Photoshopping a fish into fun adventures was a perfectly lovely hobby.

"Fish pictures," Sparkle declared, and then unlocked his phone and flipped to his photo reel, pulling up a picture of his betta fish. "This," he shared, "is Milady. Alluka named him. Milady likes adventures, which is why I have so many pictures of him."

Yes, that was a photoshopped image of a fish at the moon landing.

"See, and here you were saying you weren't already a photographer," Tip said, looking at the photos. "You've got, like, a whole photo essay here." Photoshopped photo essay, but still.

Sparkle laughed a little at that.

"He goes on adventures," he shared. "For Alluka. After that... that thing, in the other Fandom? I brought him home with me from work. He'd been staying at work. And I kind of didn't leave any explanation for why the fish disappeared, so instead of worrying, Alluka decided that Milady was going on adventures."

Fish adventures.

"I'm not gonna disappoint, you know? Milady's a very adventurous fish."

"That is . . . ridiculously cute," Tip said. "You know that, right? You're ridiculously cute."

"Oh god, don't spread that around," Sparkle laughed, shaking his head. "It'll ruin my bad reputation."

"Wait, you have a reputation?" Tip teased.

"As a punk-ass idiot," Sparkle agreed, proudly. "I had to work long and hard for that!"

And blow up some houses, maybe break into a few...

"You worked hard to be seen as an idiot?"

"Sure," Sparkle replied, shrugging. "Easier to catch people off-guard if they underestimate you."

"Yeah, but then they get it too firmly in their head and they just never think you can do anything. Even when you literally do it right in front of them."

Sparkle shrugged a little at that.

"It's their fucking fault they can't see better, then, if I prove otherwise," he decided. "Because I'm awesome."
