Driver's Ed, Friday, Period 3

This week, the cars were lined up neatly on an anonymous city street.

"If you've had a class with me before, you know how this goes," Brian said. "If you haven't, well, it's pretty simple: today, you're gonna race. There's a nice big painted yellow line on the road up there that marks the end of a quarter mile. First one there wins. Now get in your cars, start your engines, and GO!"

"Uhm. Sensei?!?!" Shiemi blinked at him. "That's... We're racing?!" This was only the third time she been behind the wheel!

Wait, three? How many classes have there been so far...?

Was there a flag that dropped? A starter's whistle? Anything other than the sound of Shiemi frantically rushing to try to get to her car would be nice. Time was lost with her trying to open the door and the other cars taking off round her meant she fumbled even more and bumped her head when she finally got it open and tried to get in.

She didn't drop the keys, though! And she put the car in drive on the first try.

Of course by that time, the race was over...

"Eh? EH?!?!"
