Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Thankfully, the weather on the island today was fairly nice for the tail end of December, but there was still a medium-sized bonfire going in the middle of the lawn, partly due to tradition and partly due to the potential for shirtlessness (which, Zoe supposed, was also tradition.)

The usual tables were set up with warm foods, nametags, and lists for the new and old folks to find each other. Once everything was set up, it was time to celebrate a new year and the start of a new semester!

[OCD is up! I'm consolidating this down to one post, so bring all your new and old folks over here! Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Oh Ringo. Why do you have to remind her of that? Lucille had to fight hard to hold back tears.

"It wasn't possible during Parents' Weekend. Perhaps because I turned into a moth."

Ringo's eyes went wide with sympathy. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't know."

"Well, now you know."

And don't ask about her brother again, Ringo.

"But there'll be another weekend for visiting, right?" Ringo asked. "He could come then!"

Because Ringo wasn't very good at picking up on even the most obvious of hints.

Lucille felt like she wanted to strangle Ringo, which perhaps should worry the other girl.

"No. He can't. His school won't let him."

That was a lie, but hopefully it would make Ringo drop the subject, as she didn't pick up on the previous obvious hint.

Ringo wrinkled her nose. "That sucks."

She sighed. "But at least you got to see him for Christmas." So there was that, she supposed.

"Yes."

Even if Lucille had wanted to hint that she wanted Ringo to go somewhere else -- which she did -- her reply really was all that she was able to say about that right now.

That got a smile out of Ringo because it really was nice that Lucille had gotten to see family.

"Do you wish you could have stayed longer, or are you glad to be back on the island?" Ringo herself was sort of torn between the two.

That question was painful, because it was the very one Lucille too was asking herself that, and it was the reason why she was in such a bad mood.

"Why do I have to choose one or the other?" she snapped.

Ringo considered that seriously. "Actually, that's a good point." She grinned. "No need to pick, right?" Though, clearly, Lucille was back here, and not visiting with her brother.

Her brother had had to leave too, which made the choice easier.

"And yourself?" Lucille needed to turn the conversation in a different direction.

"I went back to Tokyo to visit my sisters," Ringo answered with an easy smile.

It had been an awesome visit.

"That must have been nice." Lucille didn't sound that interested.

That was okay. Ringo was interested enough for both of them!

"Yeah, it was great. I mean, it's always fun to see family, you know? And we had a lot of fun."

She grinned. "Even had a couple of people visit me while I was out there."

"I'm sure they were happy to see you."

Unlike Lucille.

"Well, I like to think so." Look at how modest she was!

"You know, you could come visit sometime if you wanted. I bet you'd find Tokyo pretty interesting."

"Perhaps it is a little loud? I am used to quiet places, after all."

Lucille wouldn't mind going to Tokyo, just not with Ringo.
