After a very nice ACJ class, Rory made her way to the library and open~~ated~~ it.

The library is open. Read or something, and try not to get maimed in the process.

"Duh."

"Don't take that tone with me, missy." Bridge says sternly.

And then sticks out his tongue.

Rory raised an eyebrow. "Did you just call me 'missy'?"

"Look, a meerkat!" Bridge points in some random direction.

"Noes!" Rory said, shocked.

"Yeses!" Bridge replies. "Are meerkats allowed in the library? Or is there a rule against that?"

"We actually probably have them living in Special Collections," Rory replied. "I wouldn't be surprised."

"The real question is: are there stickbugs?"

"I don't know. I'll have to look." Rory frowned thoughtfully. "Maybe I'll take an expedition in there in search of them."

Bridge raises his hand.

Rory sighed. "Yes, Rufus?"

"Can I come, if you do?" he asks.

Rory bit her lip. "We'll see. You'll need teacher permission. Any way you could make it into a project somehow?"

Bridge pouts. "For Magical Theory maybe? There is some stuff I need to look up for my project anyway."

Rory nodded. "That'd be fine. Just get a note from Professor Calendar that says you can go back there, and I can take you through. Or, you know, whoever. Parker or Angela or Zero or Janet could, too."

"Yeah, but would they want to look for stickbugs after I got the stuff I needed?" Bridge points out.

"Probably not. But we'd have to be careful," Rory said seriously. "Logan and Xander got stuck in there with a dragon and some scary old lady just before Christmas. And then all of us aides met this scary monk who called us wh- um, who wasn't very nice."

"Dude, I'm totally capable of being careful." Bridge says. "Police cadet, remember? Also, psychic," he waves a hand.

"Yeah, I know," Rory grinned. "I wasn't underestimating you. I just have to tell everyone about how dangerous it is, you know?"

"Okay, good. 'Cause people tend to do that a lot, and... it's annoying." He grumbles.

"Hey," Rory said, smiling a little and leaning over the desk. "I know perfectly well that you're more than capable of taking care of yourself - and for that matter, you could probably look out for me pretty well in there, too. So let me know if you think I'm underestimating you, because I really don't mean to, okay?"

"Thanks," Bridge says with a smile. "I guess because I'm happy most of the time lots of people think I don't take anything seriously," he adds with a shrug.

Rory nodded. "It makes sense. I know I've had similar issues with people making snap judgements." She rolled her eyes.

"Some people are weird."

"Most people are." Rory looked just over Bridge's shoulder. "Ooh! Is that a seahorsie?"
