Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

So, the heat meant that many of the tables and chairs had been set up in the shade, and someone had found outdoor table umbrellas in blue and gold, god help us all. But hey, a little heat never hurt anyone who wasn't a vampire, right?

Ahem. The picnic was open for warm, sunny business.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Ada couldn't go as shirtless as the boys, but far be it for her to break pretty much the only Fandom tradition she enjoyed.

Which is why she was wearing her favorite sshoes that weren't her cowboy boots (be happy, Fandom, she dressed up), a mini-skirt and form-fitting tank-top, and a lot of body glitter on her arms, collarbone, neck, and cleavage. It wasn't shirtlessness, or even her bikini, but Ada was definitely indulging in the spirit of Fandom's welcoming ceremonies.

But she had all the ice cream she could eat, and a new little sibling -- a sister, this time -- so Ada was going to sit on a table and people-watch while eating her ice cream.

Lucille saw Ada, saw what she was wearing, and determinedly looked somewhere else. It was a little difficult, but she thought she managed quite well.

Why did some people insist on being half naked in public?

This was still perfectly-clothed for some people! For half-naked, Ada'd need to be wearing her bikini and not much else!

Of course, that meant the slight bit of movement when Lucille looked away caught Ada's eye and she cheerfully wandered over. "H'llo, Lucille. Enjoyin' th' picnic?"

"Oh!" Lucille feigned surprise. "I am. And you?" She kept her eyes on Ada's face, smiling tensely.

"I got a new little sibling, an' that's always fun," Ada said, lighting up at the chance to talk about Faith. "An' I do like t' watch all th' people."

It was probably lucky for everyone that Lucille hadn't got one.

"Her name's Faith. Pretty, short dark hair, star-lookin' tattoo around her eye," Ada shared. "Seems nice, if'n a bit shy."

"Oh." Lucille didn't know what to say. Why did that happen so often around Ada? She looked a little uncomfortable.

Ringo was also honoring tradition, with a bikini top and a pair of shorts. And ice cream. Because if they didn't eat it soon, it'd melt, right? So she was just being helpful!

She grinned when she spotted Ada. "You always make the glitter thing look so amazing," she announced. "I don't think I could pull that off nearly so well."

"You know I got plenty, right?" Ada checked, giving Ringo a grin. "Lotsa places here sell it, an' I c'n bake up the edible stuff fast, so you could practice with it if'n you wanted."

"Really?" Ringo considered that, then blinked as what Ada had said fully sunk in.

"Wait. Edible stuff?"

"Well, yeah," Ada said, blinking back at Ringo. "Th' stuff you get at Demon Marcus or a shop in a mall usually got glitter-glitter in it. Fine for costumes an' such, but a pain to wash off all th' way an' you don't wanna get none in your food or nothin'."

"But if'n you get it at Dite's, it's usually edible, or you can make it outta food coloring, sugar, honey powder, an' luster powder if'n you got time and patience t' master it. It's nice cause it's still sparkly, an' if you end up kissing someone they ain't gonna make a face if some gets on their lips."

"Huh." That made sense. Ringo ducked her head and grinned. "Guess I never thought about the, you know, potential downsides. But, yeah, now that you mention it, edible stuff does sound more convenient."
