Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

It may have just been a coincidence that the weather was sunny now that Fandom was back home in Maryland, but no one was going to complain.

Okay, maybe they were going to complain a little since the sun meant it was in the high 90s ~~32C~~ outside, but that just meant there was a good excuse for all the ice cream on the buffet table of picnic food.

There was the usual second table set up as well, stacked with nametags and lists to help folks locate their siblings and roommates. Once the chairs were set up and the tables were glittered, it was time to welcome the new folks and start a new semester!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Hey, he already had enough stuff happen to his brain lately, thanks.

"Okay. I can work with that," he decided slowly. "I just some help need to find a New-U station so I can fix whatever it did wrong with me and I can get out of your... um... hair."

Hair thing.

Montrals, Rhys. Montrals.

"Whatever that is, we don't have one." Sorry, Rhys. "Plus the medicine on this planet is kind of primitive, including the cybernetics so the clinic's not going to be much help either."

Now he just looked a little freaked out. "Oh god, I'm stuck like this?!"

He could build an arm with enough trial and error. Probably even an ECHO eye if he tried. But the teen thing was a bit much.

"I don't want to be a teenager again. It was awful!"

Ahsoka had said the clinic wasn't going to help, but Anakin would probably have some ideas, or maybe the teacher with the power armour ~~fetish~~.

Not that she said this because teenager again what?

"What?"

Shhhhh. It wasn't a fetish. ~~It was totally a fetish.~~

"I had a job and an apartment and student loans," he whined.

"...did you hit your head or something?"

Ahsoka you met your presumed dead Master and his adult grandchildren, don't judge.

SO MANY TIMES SINCE HE STARTED THIS ADVENTURE. HE MIGHT HAVE BRAIN DAMAGE.

"I'm telling the truth," he snapped.

"Uh-huh," Ahsoka was unconvinced, even if he didn't feel like he was lying.

Rhys threw his hand up in the air. "I am!"

And yet Rhys still hadn't reached Skywalker levels of dramatics. "Was there a weird cloning accident?"

"It was the New-U station," he said, eye lighting up at the memory. "They're supposed to reconstruct you after you... die..." and then cleared his throat nervously. "...but it must have glitched."

"Okaaaay then." That was Kenobi levels of non-committal there, Ahsoka.

"Maybe Jack--" He frowned, mouth going tight and angry before swallowing that on down. "It glitched. Must happen sometimes."

"Well there's nothing you can do about it now." Because they so didn't have that tech here. "So you might as well enjoy the free food for now."

He was never going to stop whining about this, you know. Never.

"Is there at least something I can use to make an arm around?" Or a guy with an armor fetish. Maybe a Skywalker who isn't really a Skywalker until they lose a limb?

"If you just want general parts there's an electronics store and a junkyard in town," Ahsoka said, remarkably blasé about missing limbs. "Anakin, Master Skywalker, used to have a cybernetic so he might know where to get more specific ones."

She'd occasionally helped her Anakin with maintaining his arm, but mentioning that might go too far into personal details.

"Master Skywalker?" That just sounded dirty and wrong, Ahsoka.

It wasn't a sex thing! Why did everything think it was a sex thing?

"He's the one in the robes with the hair and the scar."

Seriously, the only way it could be worse would be if she called him 'Daddy Skywalker'.

"...that is certainly some hair," Rhys admitted, once he spotted the man in question.

...why would she call him that?

"It's been weirder." She'd seen holos of him as a Padawan. "Even if he uses a ridiculous amount to stuff to make it look like that."

Because it would horrify everyone sane. Fandoms were messed up, yo.

Rhys was already touching his own hair like now he was feeling inadequate. "I'm sure it takes work."

Maybe he should also ask about the product. You know. For a friend.

You were ruining the sacred beauty of the Master-Padawan bond, Rhys.

"Work and all the fresher storage space." He could ask, but one kind of hair goop was much the same as another when you didn't have any.

Then his job here was done. He just needed a banner with 'Mission Accomplished' on it to hang up behind himself.

"Well," he said, awkwardly looking at her montrals before thinking better of it. "Thanks. I guess."

He was still suspicious about everything, but at least he knew someone for when he found out who his roommate was.

If Ahsoka met his roommate, all her concerns about the ethics of mind-tricks would fly out the airlock.

"It's what I'm here for."
