It was Face's last library shift, which meant he was doing all those things he'd been putting off for most of the summer. Like making sure he hadn't left anything of his behind the desk, or deciding whether to pack up what was left of his caf or leave it for the other aides.

That there was enough caf that he had to decide that, well, cancelling his regular caf supply was another thing he'd been putting off. There was just something final about it.

There was absolutely no reason for Cassandra to be apprehensive about turning up to the library. It was foolish of her to be so - which was why she overcompensated greatly by marching into it like she was about to start a fight.

"Garik."

At least she didn't sound like she wanted to start a fight?

"Cass, hey," Face said as he checked in a book.

It was the third time he'd checked it in today.

"I... see you are cleaning up," she said, planting her hands on the counter. "I hope it is going well?"

Face shrugged non-committally. "It's...going."

Had he even started on his dorm yet? No.

Damn it all. Cassandra ran a hand over her hair, tugging briefly on her ponytail.

"Would you like to take a break?" she asked finally.

Face scrubbed his hand over his face. "Yeah, I could use one," he said. "I'll make us some caf."

Seriously, he had so much caf.

"Of course," Cassandra said. She pulled away from the counter, searching for a chair she could use.

She hauled it back towards him when she found one.

Face busied himself making two mugs of caf. Which wasn't really all that distracting.

"Here you go," he said, offering her one.

Cassandra took her mug in both hands and looked up at him. "We should talk," she said.

Normally Face would deflect but now he blew out a breath. "Yeah, probably."

At least she wasn't going to spring any abductions of classmates on him this time. Hopefully.

"We... both know how this coming week will end," Cassandra ventured. "You will leave, and I will remain until--"

Well, until she managed to figure out how to drag Anders back home again.

"So you're heading home soon?" Mara asked, popping up out of nowhere like a woefully underplayed character ninja.

"Hey, Mara," Face said, smiling at her. "Yeah, haven't quite figured out when yet, but sometime this week."

"You know I can't give away spoilers," he teased, since the truth involved that whole 'faked death' thing.

Mara laughed. "You don't want the circulation on those horrible gossip blogs to go up, do you? Half of them are convinced you've run off with Bail Organa and it's all been hushed up because of the age difference."

And that was another reason teasing was currently a better option than honestly. "Hey, Bail Organa is a silver fox," he said, glad his internal wince wouldn't show on his face. "If he made the offer..."

If everything went to plan, Face would be too (he didn't know about the upcoming post-Endor rebranding).

"Those are just rumours." True rumours apparently.

And Mara was tracking some of them down to verify in her other job, but that didn't exactly vibe with her clueless teenager persona.

(Ten years from now Mara would be kicking herself.)

"Maybe, but rumors tend to have some kind of fact behind them," she mused.
