Face was steadfastly ignoring how close the summer was to being over. Which meant he was getting a truly remarkable amount of work done during his shift to distract himself.

In case the fact Face isn't napping weirds you out.

As he tries to figure out what to do after he's finished all his shelving.

"You're working."

Don't sound so shocked, Cassandra.

Well, he wasn't now that Cass had shown up. "I work," he protested. "Sometimes."

"Only under special circumstances," Cassandra argued, walking towards him.

Face made sad, sad eyes at her. "You wound me, Cass."

"No, you would be in rather more pain if I did," Cassandra said dryly.

Then she leaned over to offer him a quick kiss.

Face was more than happy to accept the offered kiss. "So I hear your week was glittery."

"Unfortunately," Cassandra muttered. "I made the error of walking onto that strange planet we were on a week ago. If it were not for Peridot, I may have never cleaned out my armor."

"You might have been even more intimidating if you hadn't."

She could have brought sparkly doom to all.

"I sincerely doubt it," Cassandra said, poking him gently in the chest. "It was... bright. And colorful. I could barely walk in my armor without shedding."

"It would've been a warning sign," Face argued. "Beware, this one's cranky."

"You are not funny," Cassandra informed him. "It slowed my armor."

"I'm hilarious," Face said, then "Glitter can do that?"

This was going to end the the Wraiths weaponising glitter at some point.

"It wasn't Fandom glitter," Cassandra said mildly. "Rather, it was like sand with the properties of glitter. Incredibly annoying."

Good weapon, though.

"Huh, sounds useful." Because of course Face thought it did.

"I... suppose," Cassandra said, giving him a funny look.

"You don't see the usefulness of glitter sand?"

No, because Cassandra thought like a normal person did. Mostly.

"Outside of how irritating it is?" Cassandra said, frowning. "I suppose one could throw it in an opponent's eyes..."

"Or you could use it as a distraction."

Somehow.

"You want to distract someone with glitter," Cassandra said slowly, like she couldn't believe he'd just said that.

"Are you saying I'm not distracting when glitter's involved?"

Look, Face was the wrong person from his galaxy to talk to if you wanted to talk about the evils of sand, glittery or not.

Cassandra's eyes rolled to the ceiling. "That is a different kind of distracting," she said, "And not particularly useful in a combat situation."

"Are you saying you don't believe in the power of glittery abs to bring about peace?"

No. No one did, Face.

Well, maybe in the bedroom. But not outside of that.

"I believe if you showed up to a battlefield wielding glittery abs, you would quickly find yourself stabbed in them," she said, because someone had to be practical around here.

Just be glad he hadn't caught the Tongan flagbearer, or he'd be talking up oiled, glittery abs.

"But I'd be dazzling."

"And dazzlingly dead," Cassandra said. "This would be a time I would prefer you keep your shirt on."

Face just grinned at her. "And when would be a time you'd like my shirt off?"

Cassandra let out a wry sigh. "When we are in private," she said.

"There's no one in the library."

Face, no.

"Garik!"

Cassandra, you actually had to use the word 'no' with Face and you knew that.

"Cassandra," Face said, all innocence.

"... At least take your lunch break," Cassandra muttered.

She was only a teenage girl, shut up.

And Face was a teenage boy, so they matched there.

"I can do that."

"Good." Cassandra cleared her throat. "We should, ah. Go. Then."

"Yes, we should," Face agreed.

"Why do I keep letting you do this?" Cassandra wondered, reaching for his hand.

She was just trying to motivate his work ethic, she decided.

"Because I'm very pretty without my shirt on?" Face suggested.

Assuming he's around...
