Library, Friday

Today a dragon sat behind the desk, reading a novel. Given her current state Lucille felt she was excused from doing much work today, but at least the library was open. She did her best not to get chocolate and the remains of cotton candy clouds over the books. Trying out her wings had been a bad idea.

"Oh." Maybe Lucille was just a little annoyed that he was a dragon too.

"You're very small for a dragon."

He was just so itty bitty.

"And what do you know of dragons?" he snapped.

"Every legend tells that they are huge creatures."

She wasn't huge, she was just tall.

"And you're huge?" Look at his doubt. Despite being way smaller than her, yes.

"No, if I was I wouldn't be able to enter the library," Lucille replied. "I'm not saying I'm large for a dragon, I just noted that you are small."

Small and full of rage about it all.

"I don't want to be this wretched creature small or large," he hissed. Literally hissed. Awww, even his fangs were tiny.

"Neither do I," Lucille said. "And the clouds and the chocolate makes even flying annoying."

Could he fly at all?

"What is the matter with the clouds?"

At least Lucille could fly.

"They are made of cotton candy," she clarified. "It sticks."

"Cotton candy." Why did this happen to them? Why?

He sighed. "I hope this ends soon."

"It has lasted far too long already." At least they agreed on that. "Would you like to borrow a book? They are surprisingly well behaved, considering the rest of the island."

He did not spend much time in the library, no.

"Is this the first time you have visited the library?" Lucille asked. It was the obvious question.

"No." Sort of. "I merely don't loiter."

"I could recommend books to you." Perhaps something that would offer inspiration to their writing class.

"Perhaps something that would offer inspiration for our class?," she said, repeating her thoughts. If not she could probably find 'Mining for Dummies'.

"I suppose that would be helpful."

It better traumatized him. 50 Shades traumatize him.

Of course Lucille was going to make sure he was traumatized. "I understand this one is quite popular," she said, offering him meta for 50 Shades of Grey. "I haven't read it myself, though. This one," she showed him meta for Pride and Prejudice, "is one I read growing up." It was a little too sweet for her taste, but enjoyable.

Thorin eyed both books for a moment before nodding. "I will try both."

And decide his idea of romance was decidedly more chaste and prim. Also that Men are suuuuper fucked up.

"Should you like them, I will try to find more books to traumatize you to your taste."
