"We'll end this session's class with one of my favorite stories about Fandom," Ben said with a little grin. "You see, my dad is a twin, and he and his sister were separated at birth for their own safety because there was a huge war and they'd be great pawns, et cetera, et cetera." His eyes twinkled at Obi-Wan. "So there was this huge adventure when my dad was a teenager, got off the isolated sand dune of a planet he'd been living on...and met his twin sister. But no one told him it was his twin. So after this first adventure, he got sent here to get off of the Emperor's radar and ran into a bout of Fandom weirdness. Boys turned into girls for the weekend, and Dad's body turned into that of this girl Leia that he knew."

Ben snickered. "Sorry. Trying to imagine Dad attempting Aunt Leia's hair. It's...elaborate, and he's basically had the same bowl cut for 70 years."

"He clearly did not get his hair care regimen from his father, then," Obi-Wan said wryly. "Did I ever mention the time he shaved his entire head as a teenager--? No matter."

He cleared his throat. "Fandom has many surprises in store for you all," he said. "This may well be one of them. So the question we end this class on is: just how well do you know your family-- and how badly can they come and mess things up for you?"

"It's usually time to check for gremlin bites if he does," Ben agreed.

"It would be nice if he would ever be at ease with himself," Obi-Wan sighed.

Which was rather forthcoming, but all right.

"Not in the time I've known him," Ben said with a small, rueful smile. "I don't think he ever stops long enough to really be. Teaching him to meditate must have been super pointless."

"It was... interesting," Obi-Wan said, because no amount of truth could stop him from hedging. "He committed himself to it with rather more aggression than I'd say one generally should."

Ben laughed. "Yeah, I can see that. He must have been frustrating, huh?"

"Terribly, but it was worth it," Obi-Wan said fondly.

Ben laughed. "I'm glad to see you still like him. I wasn't entirely sure you would."

"My attachment to Anakin Skywalker is my greatest weakness," Obi-Wan said.

Then looked aghast, because he had not intended to say this. Not at all.

Ben's eyes went wide as well. "I won't tell him," he promised quickly. "...unless you want me to?"

"No. Absolutely not."

No.

"What do you think would happen?" Ben asked softly.

"He'd realize everything is my fault," Obi-Wan said.

He frowned, then shut his jaw. "...That is quite enough, young Skywalker."

"It's not your fault, Master," Ben said. "He made his own awful, selfish choices."

He blinked. "I'm not normally this harsh," he admitted.

"I said that is enough," Obi-Wan said flatly.

"I'm sorry, Master," Ben said. Honestly compelled him to add, "But it seems like you need someone to talk to."

"I am not terribly good at that," Obi-Wan muttered.

If you'd asked Anakin, he probably would've said that was saying it mildly.

Ben snorted. "No one I know really is," he said. "We repress until we explode."

"I don't explode," Obi-Wan said. "I implode."

Clearly a better response, surely.

Ben's face fell. "I'm sorry to hear that, Master. Truly."

Obi-Wan sighed. "I should go," he said. "So I can obsess over this in private."

He rose to his feet.

Ben chewed on his lower lip. "I'm getting the feeling you shouldn't really get to do that," he murmured, "but I don't know you well enough to invite myself along."

"No," Obi-Wan said, as he walked towards the exit. "You do not."

Thank the Force Anakin wasn't here.

"Stubborn!" Ben called after him, then blushed to realize he'd tried to call Obi-Wan Kenobi on his bullshit.
