"We'll end this session's class with one of my favorite stories about Fandom," Ben said with a little grin. "You see, my dad is a twin, and he and his sister were separated at birth for their own safety because there was a huge war and they'd be great pawns, et cetera, et cetera." His eyes twinkled at Obi-Wan. "So there was this huge adventure when my dad was a teenager, got off the isolated sand dune of a planet he'd been living on...and met his twin sister. But no one told him it was his twin. So after this first adventure, he got sent here to get off of the Emperor's radar and ran into a bout of Fandom weirdness. Boys turned into girls for the weekend, and Dad's body turned into that of this girl Leia that he knew."

Ben snickered. "Sorry. Trying to imagine Dad attempting Aunt Leia's hair. It's...elaborate, and he's basically had the same bowl cut for 70 years."

"He clearly did not get his hair care regimen from his father, then," Obi-Wan said wryly. "Did I ever mention the time he shaved his entire head as a teenager--? No matter."

He cleared his throat. "Fandom has many surprises in store for you all," he said. "This may well be one of them. So the question we end this class on is: just how well do you know your family-- and how badly can they come and mess things up for you?"

He had the strangest feeling in the Force today...

Ahsoka Tano

"Well you think you know people then they do things like frame you for treason," Ahsoka said. "Or they decide to throw you to the rancors because it's more politically convenient than believing in you."

She clapped her hands over her mouth in horror.

Obi-Wan blinked. Several times, in fact.

"Ahsoka..." he said.

Yeah.

Ahsoka lifted her hands off enough to say "I don't know, why I said that, Master Kenobi. Especially when I don't even know if you-"

The rest of that sentence was muffled into indistinctness because those hands were right back over her mouth, her eyes wide and distressed.

"I still feel deeply guilty about that," Obi-Wan said, "As I do about many th--"

He frowned.

Ahsoka did not trust herself to actually say what she wanted to, so one had still clamped over her mouth, she picked up a pen and wrote:

What's happening?

Obi-Wan frowned, motioning her for the pen.

Once he got it, he wrote down,

It appears the island is playing tricks with us again.

Yes, she probably noticed, Obi-Wan.

Talking about Barriss and the Jedi Council without meaning to had been pretty noticeable, Master Obvious.

Will it stop?

Ahsoka didn't like lying to people, but oversharing could get her killed.

It's rarely longer than a day.

Obi-Wan played way too much close to the chest to be even remotely comfortable with this, yes.

Ahsoka relaxed slightly. Not enough to take her hand off her mouth though.

That's a relief.

Yes. Just be careful today.

Considering everything she was hiding, as well.

Of course, now Obi-Wan was going to torment himself about this all day.

It wasn't like she'd set out to guilt-trip him. If that was the case she wouldn't have muffled herself when she'd started talking about not knowing how he'd voted.

She nodded and scrawled I will.

Obi-Wan nodded. He sucked in a deep breath. "I'd rather not stand here and talk about how I failed you and Anakin all d-- oh, sithspit."

Ahsoka risked lifting her hand off her mouth. "Me neither." Because that was completely, one-hundred percent true. "Not here."

In public. Where they couldn't choose their words.

"This weekend, perhaps," Obi-Wan said.

Emotional honesty was not a good look on him.

"That would be better." Not good, just better.

Ben had a baaaaaaaaad feeling about today, too, yeah.

"I saw Granddad without any hair too!" Ben said. "He looked like a really surly egg."

It's probable he'd have said that any day.
