After yet another terribly stressful week of no classes, Face was reading behind his desk. With his eyes closed. And the book over his face.

Face raised his eyebrows, trying to hold onto the feeling of normality the teasing brought. "Whatever else could I be talking about?"

"Something terribly indulgent, no doubt," Cassandra said. "And terribly lazy."

She encroached a few more inches, then stayed there, not far from Garik's face.

Face pretended to think about it. "That still sounds a lot like lunch."

"You are terrible," Cassandra said, rolling her eyes.

Though 'terrible' was all she needed to forget about her nerves long enough to kiss him, at least.

Face was relived to discover that this much, at least, felt the same.

Not that he'd ever admit it, because he only played the fool.

It did. And it was thoroughly distracting in its normalcy.

At least, that was the defense Cassandra would give for the way she put herself into the kiss and dragged it out.

Face was perfectly happy to let the kiss continue. It was a simpler way to deal with things.

Cassandra broke it eventually, but only so she could slide around the desk and try to make her way into his lap.

Mysteriously, there were remarkably few problems with that on Face's end.

It helped that there needed to be very little thinking involved.

Which made everything much easier all around. For once, Cassandra was willing to let other parts of herself do the thinking.

Like the parts that wanted to slide her arms around him and kiss him again, threat of librarian be damned.

The librarian was more likely to mortify them than anything else...which okay, might have worked on one of them.

Not that Face was thinking about Constantine when he had a lapful of girl and there was kissing involved.

"... You should take an early lunch," Cassandra mumbled, much later, when she'd finally managed to detach again.

Her mouth from his, anyway.

"I think I can manage that," Face said, because yes, that was a brilliant idea.

Cassandra slid back out of his lap, because she was hardly going to remain there, clothed, when they could be somewhere else, ah--

She snagged his hand and tugged him away from his chair.
