Beat The Heat: Indoor Activities 101, Wednesday, Period 3
Today, the Danger Shop was set up to look like an ordinary suburban home; if students looked closely enough, they'd find many similarities to the layout of the home from The Sampsons, though some moddable changes had been made. They were standing on the lawn just outside the front door, looking in while Hardison spoke.
"Mornin' y'all," Hardison said with a bright smile. "So, the first step in havin' a good time inside is bein' able to use your imagination. Without it, it's hard to be entertained, even with the most state of the art equipment out there. There are some imagination games that a lot of people played growin' up that were always good to pass the time when you were little."
With the push of a button, lava began seeping up through the floor of the living room, stopping when it was about kneedeep. Miraculously, none of the furniture combusted, though much of the light stuff had a tendency to shift and float, turning the living room into an obstacle course. From the dining room came the sound of...pirates? With plenty of "Yarrr, mateys!" and "Shiver me timbers!" and even the occasional bit of song.
There were several other activities to find if the students were willing to explore--but they had to get past the lava first.
"I know, I know, y'all are teen. But you know what? Bein' able to play an' have fun is a valuable skill, so set aside your too-cool-for-this attitudes for an hour an' just have a good time."
