Fun with Magic | Friday, period 2

Class was meeting on the lawn today, since the weather was good. Bob waited for them all to arrive...then waited some more.

"Three of you? That's all?" He heaved a sigh. Honestly, the students here had no sense of adventure and fun.

"Well, welcome to class, in any event. This is Fun with Magic. The idea of this class is to give you an idea of what magic is capable of and how to use it, in a light-hearted and safe environment." He waved a hand. "I'll be supplying the magic - or a friend will be, by way of me - and we'll be having fun with it. To start, though, please tell me your names, what magic you're familiar with, what you can do yourself, and what sorts of things you do for fun.

"Also, I'll be needing an assistant, mostly to carry things about for me. Please volunteer, anybody who has hands."

"My name is Cassandra Pentaghast," Cassandra said flatly. "Magic in my world is largely elemental in nature, though it draws its strength from the Fade, the realm of dreams. And I do not believe it is in any way fun."

That answered all that, right?

Eh, Bob had dealt with worse. "Don't worry; I'll show you it can be. What do you do for fun, then?"

"I read," Cassandra said stiffly, like she would have preferred to say I train very hard to keep magic users in check.

"Hm." Well, that didn't give Bob much to go with in the ways of magical alternatives. "What sorts of books?"

"I'm Steven, Steven Universe," he introduced happily. "And I can do some card tricks and the never-ending scarf, but I'm eager to learn more!"

"And I guess I also ride my bike and like to sing for fun, though I do lots of stuff."

Bob was going to take that as "not familiar with magic".

"Bike riding and singing." He thought for a moment. "I can work with that."
