Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Gosh, the summer picnic was so much nicer--and warmer--than the spring one. There were tables and chairs set up in the sun and the shade, and more than enough food for everyone. Hopefully, everyone was up for socializing for a while!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

It said something about the both of them. Probably. Dante didn't even try to think about it.

"Then stop," he said, shrugging a shoulder. "I'm good. I told you that like fifty times."

She kept eyeing him. "You don't want me to offer to get you food or anything again?" Like, no doing him favors?

"You're not just offering to 'get me food' when you do that, and you know it," Dante said irritably. "So just drop it. I'm burying this whole thing, why can't you?"

Now she was outright staring at him. "Is this about Kathy?" Sure, that was in the back of her mind, but Ringo actually hadn't been trying to needle him about their dead friend today.

She'd never bothered him this hard about how he was doing or whatever before Kathy. Dante didn't see how it could possibly be about anything but that.

"You tell me," he said flatly.

He didn't usually look this hungover, either.

"This is about the fact that you look like crap, Dante." She rolled her eyes. "Which you usually don't. At least not like this." If someone had told her that he'd been on a week-long bender, she wouldn't have been surprised.

If only he'd been so lucky.

The bender was the only part of last week he wanted to think about. Everything else was blood and rage and pain.

"Then you clearly haven't caught me with a hangover before," Dante said irritably.

Hey, maybe Dante could share about that! At least it was a topic that wasn't Kathy.

"You don't usually have such obvious ones," Ringo countered.

Yeah, that didn't require a verbal answer.

Just a, so the fuck what? face with maybe an especially expressive shrug.

Which was getting him another eyeroll. "So that's what you do for your friends when they're hungover, right? Make sure they've got what they need?"

"I already have water," Dante retorted. "I'm not sick, Ringo, fuck, you'd make a terrible nurse too."

She snickered. "Well, that's true." Smirk. "Not as bad of one as you, though."

"Which is why I leave this to the professionals," Dante said.

"And do the drinking for yourself?"

There was still a hint of worry in her voice, buried underneath the teasing, but she couldn't really do anything about that.

"Exactly," Dante said, too bright and completely not sincere. "Now you're getting it."

"Sticking to what you're good at, huh?"

She was rolling her eyes as she said it, just in case he was curious.

Dante pointed at her with thumb and forefinger outstretched.

See? Getting it now, Ringo.

He was happy to bring down her expectations a bit like that.

"Well, sounds like you've got everything under control. Don't need anything from anyone."

Dante took a happy swig of his water bottle. "See, I thought we could get to an understanding."

Ringo shrugged. "Guess I'll leave you to your water and your cold pizza." She tossed off a lazy wave.

And, as a special present, didn't add anything about 'if he changed his mind'.

"Catch you later, Ringo," Dante chirped.

Or, you know. Not.

"Yeah. See you around."

Count on it.
