Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Back at home in Maryland, the weather was awful and raining and gross, just like it had been all week. Thankfully, Fandom's current locale was providing the island with much nicer weather to welcome the new students. It was warm, and sunny, and just about everything the administration could ask for on picnic day.

The tables and chairs had been dragged out and set up around the lawn, and there was the usual buffet table of delectable foods, along with the table of nametags and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything set up, it was time to welcome the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

It was a clue, yes. But then you didn't know hyperactive until you'd been around Jedi younglings. It took a long time for the serenity to kick in. "Hi, I'm Ahsoka."

"I'm Ringo!" She grinned. "Your big sibling. Sort of."

She cocked her head. "Did anyone tell you you'd be getting someone like me?" Because she'd be glad to explain if she needed to!

"Not really." Her conversation with Anakin hadn't really covered that.

Well, they'd probably had other stuff to talk about. Like not being dead.

"Oh, well." Ringo shrugged. "The school assigns new students a 'big sibling'. Which is really just a fancy sort of way of saying that I'm here to help you get settled in, and answer any questions you have. Either now, or later. And that's me!"

She grinned. "Like, I'm in room 506 in the dorms, and you can swing by at any time if you want."

That had been a topic, yes. The topic even.

"I'll have to remember to do that," Ahsoka told her. "Today's been... a day."

Ringo's eyebrows rose. "Already?" Her smile turned sympathetic. "It usually takes a day or two before how odd things can be here really settles in."

Clearly, Ahsoka was an overachiever.

"What can I say, it's really been one of those days."

"Anything I can do to help?" Ringo offered.

"Not really." Run, run far away from Skywalker family drama while you could. "But thank you for the offer."

That was excellent life advice!

"Well, that offer is open, if you ever change your mind."

She looked around the lawn and shrugged. "Got any questions? Did you find your roommate and everything?"

"Yeah, I did, I'm probably the best person to be paired with that one."

If only because she could use always use it as a refresher in keeping her frustrations in check.

"Oh? Is it someone you already know?" That sounded kind of neat, actually.

"No, but seem like they might be a little intense."

That one was one way of describing Peridot.

"I hope that turns out to be a good thing."

Ringo grinned. "And if you ever need anywhere to get away, there are plenty of good places on the island for that."

"And I know who to ask."

Ringo laughed. "Exactly!"
