Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Back at home in Maryland, the weather was awful and raining and gross, just like it had been all week. Thankfully, Fandom's current locale was providing the island with much nicer weather to welcome the new students. It was warm, and sunny, and just about everything the administration could ask for on picnic day.

The tables and chairs had been dragged out and set up around the lawn, and there was the usual buffet table of delectable foods, along with the table of nametags and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything set up, it was time to welcome the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

There was a good chance that Peridot wasn't even physically compatible with the student body, and she wasn't about to give shapeshifting to accommodate a try, really.

"... Fun?"

She knew what 'fun' was, at least. She was just failing to see how being trapped on what might or might not be Earth and forced into one of their primitive schools would be anything approaching enjoyable.

"I'm not here looking for fun."

"Okay. Then I'll learn because learning is... fun?"

That seemed to be what their little logic spiral was circling back around to, anyway.

For the time being, anyway.

Going along with this seemed like the best option, at least until she could find a way back to Homeworld.

Of course, it wasn't like Isabela and Peridot actually shared a frame of reference for that.

The first thing on that list didn't sound 'strange,' really. It sounded like a horrible reality that some Gems faced when they came back... wrong. Peridot bit back the urge to shudder.

"... Food rain," she settled on. "I don't understand."

The concept of food, she had a bit of an inkling about. The concept of rain was completely foreign to her.

That... only sort of cleared that one up. Peridot squinted, but finally just let the questions stop. It seemed saner, that way.
