It seemed like it would be a quiet shift in the library today, and for the most part it was, but every now and then Cosette would hear sniffles coming from various sections, as if the books were sad about something.
So it was a quiet shift, but a busy one as she went from section to section just . . . trying to comfort the books. Even if that was odd (which she was completely used to by now), she didn't bother to question it. It was her job to look after the books, so of course that applied if they were sad.
