Fitness and Health, Tuesday, Period 4
Bond had his students meet him in the gym, where he was idly bouncing a ball.
"Good afternoon," he greeted them, switching hands between bounces without actually looking at the ball. "And welcome to Fitness and Health, which will focus on exactly that. I assume you're taking because it seemed interesting, the other physical education class sounded dodgy, or through some kind of paperwork error."
"Now, given it's the first week, you can all guess what comes next, introductions. Though we're going to be combining them with a little exercise in co-ordination and multitasking." He pointed to where two connected squares had been marked out on the floor. He himself was already standing in the middle of one. "We'll each stand in one of those square and bounce the ball to the other while introducing yourselves, name, class, something you mght like covered, and any exercises you might have issues with. I realise this doesn't sound particularly challenging, however you must hit the ball so it bounces once in your own square first before landing in the other, and you must also let it bounce once before returning it. It's harder than it sounds even when you aren't holding a conversation."
He tossed the ball to a random student. "You can go first."

"Ada Miller, junior, here through paperwork error but I like bein' active," she said cheerfully, letting the ball bounce into her own square before flicking her wrist to send it back down into her space and off into someone else's. "Climbing, running, that sort of thing. But I'm not 'sposed to go swiming or anything like that."

"I'm Kira Yukimura, and I'm a junior," she said. "I'm up for getting better at any kind of sports, or running better without feeling like I'm gonna die. I don't think there's anything I can't do, but I guess I'll find out the fun way." For a strange value of fun, at least.
