Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Picnic-ing in January - still not the best idea ever! But there were tables and chairs set up in the sun, and a nice bonfire going, and plenty of warm food for everyone to encourage socializing for as long as possible.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Ringo pursed her lips thoughtfully, not sure how to put things. "Well, I was part of the project that invented the technology, and they needed someone to test it. So I was part of that group."

She wasn't sure that she could really explain genetically engineered humans grown in a lab to someone from the 1800s, so she was going to avoid that for now.

Even what Ringo did say made very little sense to Lucille, so all she said was: "I see. At least you enjoy it."

"I do." Ringo's grin turned slightly awkward. "I didn't used to as much, but over the past year or so it's become fun again."

"That's a good thing, isn't it?"

Lucille's voice was taking on a tone of unkindness. Perhaps it was because the girl used 'fun' in every other sentence.

That's because fun was important, Lucille! Obviously!

"I definitely think so!" Ringo agreed. And clearly Lucille did, too!

For someone whom fun had been scarce it seemed a little, well, boastful, perhaps?

"Now, shouldn't you demonstrate what you can do with these shoes?" Lucille suggested, hoping to be able to escape the conversation and Ringo during the demonstration.

[And soon sleep!]

"Oh, right!" Ringo grinned and shoved herself upward. She had enough arm strength to get high enough off the table to get her feet under her in a single motion, and stood balanced on the table, looking around.

Those little snow patches were spread all over the place. "Hmm, there aren't any particularly good spaces around here. One moment." She pursed her lips thoughtfully, then nodded to herself. With a sharp whine, Ringo spun in place a couple of times, then launched herself up and out, into a clear little space a few feet away, still spinning and plowing up a little circle of snow around her. It sprayed outward, but she was careful not to let it spray far enough to actually hit Lucille.

"There we go," she declared, pleased at the little circle cleared of snow.

On the table?! Lucille looked rather horrified, and while it certainly was rude, she fled, and Ringo would end up speaking to thin air.

[I apologize for her ;) ]

Ringo blinked in confusion, looking around to see if Lucille had fallen out of her seat or something, but she wasn't there.

"I hope everything's okay," Ringo murmured softly, shrugging to herself. She'd have to make a note to offer another demonstration next time they ran into each other, since Lucille had missed this one.
