Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II
Picnic-ing in January - still not the best idea ever! But there were tables and chairs set up in the sun, and a nice bonfire going, and plenty of warm food for everyone to encourage socializing for as long as possible.
[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
And yes, it was entirely possible that she came to the picnic with a purse at her side that was stuffed full of puffy stickers to hand out to the new kids. All of them with terrible puns on them. Some of them with scratch-n-sniff scents for good measure.
Mabel liked to celebrate newbie day in style.
This was probably also why Mabel and Waddles were both wearing matching pink shutter shades.

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
"Hi! You look new, have a sticker!"
Sorry, Lucille. You were on Mabel's 'to be befriended come hell or high water' list now. That was just how it was going to be.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
"Thank you, miss," he said. "A sticker? How... delightful." What was a sticker, and was she to do anything with it?
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
He was a pretty mellow pig.
"The name's Mabel," Mabel introduced, reaching into her purse and pulling out a puffy sticker with a very dapper glass of milk on it. A milk mustache, (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/cc/cd/6a/cccd6aede4b24e7795c1f7ab231fb23a.jpg) more accurately. She took a moment to peel the back off, and then held it out for Lucille to take. "And Waddles and I are here to wish a warm Fandom welcome to the new kids!"
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
"Thank you. My name is Lucille Sharpe." She accepted the sticker, which, unsurprisingly enough, stuck to her finger, and frowned a little. "What is one supposed to do with these?"
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
That was it. That was basically what stickers had going for them, right there.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
Lucille decided then and there that she didn't need any stickers. Or pigs staring at her. Because wasn't that pig staring?
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
... And also staring, a bit.
"Oh, I don't know. On your cheek or on a bag if you have one, or on your schoolbooks to make them less boring. Stickers can go on all kinds of things!"

Family lectures were some of the worst. Hopefully Ringo's family wasn't as know-it-all as some of Mabel's could sometimes be.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
"I, um, sort of didn't do some AT stuff I should have been doing since I got to Fandom?" Whoops?
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
"Oooh," Mabel replied, knowingly. "Homework, but away from home. What kind of stuff? Is there anything I can help you with?"
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
Ringo grinned. "But thanks for offering!" That was just like Mabel.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2016]
Hooboy.
"I like helping!"
That would do.

It was a nice pig, though, shades and all.

"Hi," she said, giving Laura a smile and a warm wave hello. Waddles, meanwhile, gave Laura a curious little oink in greeting. "You must be new, huh? Welcome to Fandom!"
no subject
Usually, Laura would stay away from younger people, but Waddles made for a nice buffer. "Hello. I am new, yes. My name is Laura. It is nice to meet you." And she did mean it, because the pig had been a nice change of pace.

"I'm Mabel, and this is Waddles," Mabel introduced, gesturing to the pig. "And it's nice to meet you, too!"
If Laura seemed a little... flat? Empty? Mabel really didn't seem to notice or care. Sometimes people just couldn't help that sort of thing, after all, and Laura was being nice to Waddles. That automatically made her cool in Mabel's book.
In fairness, it wasn't hard to be cool in Mabel's book.
"Would you like a welcome sticker, Laura?"
They were puffy!

The offer confused her a bit, but she shrugged softly. "I have nowhere to put it."
no subject
"Sure you do," Mabel said, pulling a sticker of a potato sitting on a couch (GET IT?) out of her purse and picking the back off of it before sticking it to her own cheek. "Stickers can go anywhere. You can relocate it to somewhere else once you get tired of having a sticker on your face, you know?"
Another moment of rummaging, and Mabel found a sticker of a pig wearing a karate outfit. A pork chop, if you will. Proudly, she held it out for Laura. Since she clearly liked pigs, and all.
no subject
She accepted the one handed to her though; Mabel probably didn't know this, but Laura was going to treasure it fiercely. "Thank you", she said. "I have nothing to give you in return."

There were few occasions that were not sticker occasions, if you asked Mabel.
