And extremely irritated (and Santa-hatted) Anakin stood alone in front of the class. "Master Kenobi said he had a eopie-related emergency," he said, "but I think it's a lie to cover up how ridiculous he would look in a Santa hat and that he doesn't want me to see it."

Keep thinking that, Anakin.

"Which brings us to today's topic: would you rather people tell you a hard truth or a comforting lie? Is it easier to know that your dog died, or would you rather pretend to believe your parents that it's really at a farm up state?"

He leaned back against the desk and batted at the fuzzy white ball on the end of his hat as it drifted into his eyes. "Tell what you prefer, and then tell me either the hardest truth you ever had to deliver or the biggest lie you ever told to try to be comforting."

. . . the one she seemed to have on, that was, not Anakin's. Though if asked, she'd say Anakin's hat was adorable too.

It was kind of a shame the implications of being an elf in a Santa hat were going to go over her head, honestly.
