So, Garik was in this weird, primitive library again. But while he'd like to watch holos like he had last time this had happened, he'd found a highlighted script in his room yesterday, and that meant he had work to do first.

Though it was certainly different from the rest of his holos, and and he was kind of confused by the fact half these lines were for a girl.

Cassandra was entirely unaware of any children that might be running around, so she was stalking into the room when she arrived, and--

"...Who are you?"

"Garik Loran," he told her cheerfully. "Though some people are calling me 'the Face'."

More than some, though he still hadn't quite grasped that yet.

"Garik?" Cassandra said.

And then she had to pause, because it was Garik, and it was also likely that-- "Is this some kind of prank?"

"If it is it's not funny," Garik said. "The scripts here are weird."

"You are a child," Cassandra informed him. "Garik is much older than you are. Where is he?"

Did Cassandra ever wonder what the 'Cass is being ridiculous but I'm not saying anything because she likes to punch things' face looked like without the scar? And in miniature?

Because that was exactly the look she was getting. "Right here? I'm Garik."

"Again," Cassandra said, patiently (for her standards, which was pretty impatient), "Garik is much older than you."

"Garik is not older than me," he said, mimicking her accent, because even at this tender age, he had the beginnings of being a little smartarse. "Because I'm Garik."

All right, the brattiness was familiar.

Cassandra frowned at him.

Garik raised his eyebrows. "Yes?"

"If this is a prank," Cassandra said, after a long pause, "Let Garik know that I will end him. If not, Maker."

"You're kind of paranoid." Yes, Garik, please do your best to ensure Face's girlfriend killed him.

"You have clearly not met the older Garik," Cassandra said dryly.

Garik was beginning to wonder if this lady was the kind of stranger his parents had started telling him to watch out for. Though she wasn't creepy like Director Isard had been. "No, I haven't."

Because he didn't exist.

"Ugh," Cassandra said. She felt a tiny vein in her forehead making its presence known.

She did not know how to deal with children. "Do not break anything."

"Because you are a child," said Cassandra, who had, to be fair, broken many things as a child, including little boys' faces.

"Doesn't mean I'm clumsy," Garik said.

"One does not need to be clumsy to break something," Cassandra said.

Cassandra tilted her head. "If you truly are Garik," she said, "That is debatable."

Cassandra rolled her eyes.

Which then fell on the script. "...Is that for the play?"

"Play?" Garik asked. "I thought it was for a holo."

"You are in a play," Cassandra informed him, and reached forward, trying to snatch it up.

(She was curious, all right?)

Garik tried to pull it out of her reach, but was considerably shorter than her and unlike older him, hadn't known to be watching for something like that.

Which meant the script was in Cassandra's hands within seconds. She squinted at it. "...Why has he marked passages with a woman's na-- Oh, Garik."

Cassandra sighed loudly.

She sounded like even she wasn't sure if it was a sigh of 'how ridiculous' or 'awwww, he's embracing woman power'.

Garik was eyeing her suspiciously now.

"I should get a copy of this," Cassandra said, slapping it back on the counter. "I will see you again when you grow up." A pause. "This is ridiculous."

She was telling him.

"That's gonna be a while." It'll be sooner than you think, Garik.

"It will not," Cassandra informed him. "This is magic. It will wear off in the morning, no doubt."

She turned on her heel like the thoroughly helpful woman she was.
