Atton had gotten to the gym about an hour early: you could tell, because he'd built a small fortress out of his baggage, with all the words strategically pointing in a direction where they weren't visible. "So we all have baggage," he said, "Obviously. Sometimes baggage gets in the way. Ignore your baggage. That's easiest."

And totally healthy!

"We could do some soul-searching here about how to keep our metaphorical baggage from getting in the way of our life's ambitions, and y'know, if you want to grab one of those mattressy things over there and do that, be my guest."

He eyed the class dryly. "Or you can use everything in the gym to beat the shit out of your actual baggage. Or something. I promise I'm not going to read anything, and neither should you."

That was it, apparently.

Mara could barely see Atton over the giant "LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE" steamer trunk blocking her view of everything.

How do you deal with your baggage? How do you keep it from interfering with your ability to do stuff?

"Shoving it out of the way seems to work just fine," Mara said, pushing the compact little black leather bag that read "abandonment issues" off of her desk with more vehemence than necessary.

Mara glared at the bags, then at him. "So I can just pretend they aren't here?" she asked, dodging a gym bag labeled "poor life choices."

"They'll be gone by tomorrow," Atton said, shrugging. "Of course, they'll probably be back next year..."

Mara glared at the bags again. "Not on purpose. I'm not one who sits around brooding about my sins."

As far as Atton knew, the only person on the island who had more sins to ignore was Skywalker.

"Years of therapy," Atton said. "Or getting really resigned about your issues."

Which didn't actually made them go away, but did calm you down enough that you could do things like building luggage fortresses.

Atton's not going to judge if you decide to pelt your baggage with dodgeballs instead, or hit it with a hockey stick or something.

He still occasionally has to snag a bag or two and tuck it into the fortress, but at this point in his Fandom career, he mostly looks resigned.
