Anakin lounged back against his desk today, this time without coffee. Turned out that being mean to the barista meant that the rest of them wouldn't serve him for the remainder of the month. Oops. "Today we're going to talk about the seven deadly sins, or easily identifiable vices found in most sentient species," he began.

"The Earth religious document known as the Bible is rather clear on those, so we feel they are rather useful when we speak of ethics on this planet," Obi-Wan said smoothly. "There are seven, as Master Skywalker has already pointed out: pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth."

Anakin gave Obi-Wan a little smirk. "And everyone has one that calls to them a bit more strongly than the rest. So today we want to you to take a moment to really think about your personal weaknesses and figure out which of the sins Master Kenobi mentioned is closest to you. I, for instance, have problems with both wrath and pride."

Which wouldn't be a shock to anyone in the room.

Obi-Wan was not bringing up his own. This, too, should be predictable. "Please explain your choice," he said, "and how you deal with your vice."

"Never lecturing," Anakin said. "Just...I know more about it than you do, and I want it to always stay that way."

"I have not been inclined to-- lash out-- for a very long time, Anakin," Obi-Wan said. Gently, somewhat, though not terribly so.

Anakin's lips quirked up. "Just checking," he said.

Obi-Wan's mouth quirked briefly.

Then he thought about an episode on Tatooine over a year ago and suddenly he felt guilty.

Oh well. Small steps.

Anakin sent a little flicker of understanding through the Force.

He wasn't apologizing, though.

It was a good thing, considering, that Obi-Wan was entirely too stuffy to do something like put his head on Anakin's shoulder.

A faint sliver of that feeling was there, though.

Anakin's smile turned more genuine as he focused on Obi-Wan's face for a longer moment than strictly necessary.

Near the end of that moment, Obi-Wan cleared his throat. "Anakin," he said, "I believe the students require your scrutiny."

Anakin nodded, cheeks going a little pink. "Of course, Master."

"And perhaps sometime we will talk about this over tea."

Probably not. Nope.

Anakin used the little hand signal that meant "not holding my breath," then gave Obi-Wan a grin and went off to help a student.
