Anakin had a coffee in a cup that he was staring into dubiously. "They got my order wrong," he complained to Obi-Wan. "This has stuff in it. I just wanted coffee." His jaw clenched. "I'm going to do something about it after class. How hard can it be to get BLACK COFFEE right?"
Obi-Wan was not facepalming. Obi-Wan was looking incredibly serene as he ignored Anakin completely. "Today," he said, "we will discuss the importance of keeping a cool head, and how feasible it is to do this when your emotions may insist on you taking other paths."
Anakin was, apparently, now trying to set Obi-Wan on fire with his brain. "All I wanted was coffee. I'm not overreacting!"
He was completely overreacting.
"For example, Master Skywalker would have us believe it is entirely normal behavior for him to run his mouth at a barista who may have not provided the service he was hoping to get," Obi-Wan said lightly. "Of course, this is only a minor example of what acting on one's impulses can cause."
Not looking at you, Isabela.
Tooootally looking at you, Isabela. "Fine," Anakin grumped. "Sometimes it's better to behave like a rational, uptight stick-in-the mud like Master Kenobi and not express your every disappointment. But only sometimes! I can think of times when trusting my emotions has gotten out of tough spots."
"Master Skywalker and I are not the only ones who might disagree about the ethics of acting," Obi-Wan continued. "Some of this planet's philosophers were very insistent that only the motive behind the action truly mattered. If you act impulsively, but out of some sense of the greater good--" No, your coffee didn't count, Anakin, "--then even if that act was, how shall we say, overkill, it would still be good. Yet others would argue that the outcome of such an act is rather more important. And so one must think about the consequences before one lashes out, regardless of one's emotional state."
Anakin nodded, frowning at his coffee cup before putting it aside. "So today, come up with an example of each to share: a time where you reacted purely on emotion, and a time where you thought the action through before doing something."

Listen to the lecture!
Re: Listen to the lecture!
Right now she was just trying not to giggle visibly at the teachers.

Because clearly that was the worrisome part of her sentence.

"Not any more," Isabela chirped.

"That I didn't have time to raid his safe as well?" Her jewellery hadn't gone too far.

Re: Answer the discussion questions!
Why are you asking these things, Anakin?
Re: Answer the discussion questions!
"Well, Dante's a very pleasant thing to react to. Most of the other company I've had here too."

As it stood, he was trying very hard not to sigh.
