The library may be closed, however, Janet has a key, and she's the only library aide in town. She locked the door behind her, flipped on just a few lights, and frowned. Armed with notes made from Angel's clinic chart, she made her way behind the Collections Desk and sat down to do research on what could have possibly caused those symptoms--and in someone who was clinically dead.

After a time, Janet closed the book she was looking at and rubbed her eyes. She wasn't having much luck. Though there was one book buried in the reference section of the stacks that looked fairly promising. "May as well check out every avenue possible," she said, standing and moving out from behind the Collections Desk and toward the stacks.

"I'd kill for an electron microscope right about now," muttered Janet. She disappeared into the stacks in search of one more book.

OOC: The scene is locked to Janet, Chloe, Piper, and Veronica. OK for broadcast, though. I will be AFK for a while, but the general setup of the scene supports that.

Veronica stood outside the library, lock pick kit in hand. Piper and Chloe were right behind her.

It took her a minute, but she managed the spring the lock and ease the door open.

"Okay, we're in," she said in a soft voice. "I just hope no one is watching the security feeds."

"I doubt anyone was watching," Piper said mischievously.

Veronica grinned at her roommate. "You're the best," she said.

"Okay, where is special collections?" she asked. "I haven't spent much time in the library."

"It's back over here, I think," Chloe said, pointing the way out to them as she kept walking. "I haven't been back there since the zombies attacked though, but I assume it's still in the same place."

"I think you're right, but it has been awhile since I was back there, too" Piper added as the three of them headed toward special collections.

Janet came out from the stacks, carrying a book and skimming the table of contents. She looked up when she exited into the main area and heard Piper's voice. "You know, I know I locked the door behind me," she said, raising one eyebrow and lookind dubiously at Veronica, Chloe, and Piper.

Piper jumped, startled when Janet approached them.

"Janet! Hi, um, we were just... Veronica? Chloe? Want to fill her in?" she asked, having no clue what excuse to give in this situation.

"Hello?" Piper waved her hand in front of Veronica's face. When she didn't get any sort of reaction, she began to panic. "Oh crap!"

She didn't mean to freeze them, really.

After a few more moments of freaking out, the three girls unfroze on their own. And Piper still didn't have an excuse.

This wasn't good.

"Breaking into the library on Spring Break?" Janet sounded incredibly dubious. "You're either unusually dedicated to your classes, or something's up."

"Janet!" Veronica exclaimed. "Um, I forgot you worked in the library," she said. "We wanted to do research on alternate cures for Angel."

"Yeah," Chloe adds quickly. "And we didn't want to bother you or any of the other aides who might still be around just so we can look at a few books."

"What they said," Piper said, relieved they didn't seem to know they were frozen a few moments ago.

"Because of course it's much less bother on us when we come back from Spring Break and discover that the books are out of order and Special Collections has turned you into a newt." Janet rolled her eyes, but she wasn't all that upset. "Besides, what do you think I'm here doing?" She nodded at the books on the Collections Desk. "I can't seem to figure out any of the details on that damn toxin that Dr. Lambert found in his system."

"You're not likely to," Veronica said with a sigh. "It's something called Killer of the Dead. According to the guy at the bookstore, the only known cure is the blood of a slayer. We're lacking in slayers, not to mention the fact that I don't think Angel would want to go that route anyway, so we need to figure out something else."

"Killer of the Dead?" asked Janet. She frowned. "Well, if you're looking for alternate cures, let's hit Special Collections and see what we can find." She pulled out her keys and unlocked the door. "Do you all have your library cards? I think it's in a good mood tonight, but I don't think we should take any chances."

"Actually, I do have mine. Figured it couldn't hurt to bring it since this is the library," Piper said with a shrug.

Chloe nodded. "Mine should still be in my wallet, so yeah."

"Same here," Veronica said, hoping it was true.

"Great!" exclaimed. She pulled the door open and gestured inside. "Let's see what we can find!"
